Theres been lots of warm welcomes and good job on the wood shed stacking so far in this thread but I dont mind adding my own good job on the stacking and warm welcome from the BC Rockies! Im jealous of your madrone..... I have family in the gulf islands and Vancouver Island who have access to this high btu wood. I wish it made sense to have a truck load delivered to the east kootenays of BC!

Those aren't wood stacks. They're artwork.

Thanks All for the posts. Backwoods Savage I don't have an OWB just a generator for power. I usually stick all my wood on treated 2x4s. You can see some extending beyond the medium height pile. The smaller pile in front was a target of opportunity that happened fast and I didn't get the dunnage under it. That pile will be the first to go in the shed here shortly for next years burn. I usually burn half a shed a year so each year I load wood for a year away. The shed has a floor of crushed rock and the treated 2x4s go on that. Metalcuttr

2 x 4's should work good for you. We usually just cut some saplings in the woods and lay those down. It works and they are cheap.

UncleJoe I have actually used the splitter both horizontal and vertical. I see advantages both ways and could easily get used to either way. I don't know whether this means I am adaptable, bi-polar or just confused! TurboDiesel The management is certainly welcome to use the "Postcard" woodshed picture in a calendar. I may even have a higher res picture somewhere. Just an observation: I am beginning to see that the FHC may have MORE than its fair share of characters! metalcuttr

Welcome to the ranks! Fellow Washingtonian! Great to have you here and hope to see more of those stacks!!! I love burning the cherry and madrona although the latter I don’t have much of so I save for special occasions. :salute::thumbs:

Not only some characters on this forum but there is a very small group that still do not understand the proper way to split wood.
