I love watching them do that to gobble up bugs when I cut the yard. My wife hates it...she thinks they are diving "at" her...I keep telling her, they are just eating the bugs, but she still thinks they get too close and might miscalculate a turn and "stab" her, or get caught in her hair
I have been cutting the lawn, and/or mowing hay down for the last 40 years or so, never seen or heard of anybody ever being hit by a reckless Barn Swallow!

Got the ski nautique all set for the weekend. It's going to be HOT. Battery charging just to make sure. I had to swap out the raw water pump impeller. The old one wasn't pulling proper suction. Considering the rwp is f cooking the engine and the exhaust manifold, it's kinda important. ;)

I'll verify the radio is all set, double check the oil level, and put some dialectric grease on the trailer wiring connectors as well.

I noticed the one neighbor was getting trees cut down. Hmm. I stopped over and talked to with a tree service guy and he said they were going to take it and dump the wood. I told him I burn about 5 cord a year as I heat with wood. He was more than happy to offer to drop it off in my yard. No logs in my yard yet, but this looks promising. The wood is in their driveway, and the owner doesn't want it.

Oh, this house has mostly black locust in the yard, and a lot of it. The tree guy said that this was maple, but I'm not going to complain at any rate if it happens. ThisT lot has probably more trees than any other lot in the neighborhood. These are decent sized trees too.

    I'll hopefully start up a separate thread.:sherlock:

Don't feel bad, all is well!
No structures lost! They let everyone back up for a few hours this morning, all still standing and habitable. The news is still claiming 250ft. perimeter from houses, but that isn't the case in a few instances- but no worries. The response was fast and effective, one of the best I've ever seen.
They were still working it today but it's contained, 100%. Human caused of course, they're looking for culprits.
Now if they can get a handle on the other ones, that'd be good. Badger Creek is still growing but WW is in a good area, no worries.

Woodchuck dug under fence to get into garden then also burrowed a new home for himself. I have a surprise waiting for him now though.

A couple years back we had a wood chuck do that. Problem for him was the two dogs apparently caught him before he got back out! We didn’t know until they brought this big, hairy, ball of fatness back to the porch! Ugh!

My daughter and her teammates are getting soaked in a steady light rain for soccer practice. I went walking/running earlier today, then met my wife for lunch on Anniversary. I am going to walk/run again but I’m waiting for the rain to really slow stop. Heck with dat! Radar looks like it will not last long.

rottiman , looks like you got some rain up your way. Eh?

Just put damp tea towels on the box fan and Vornado fan, not super smokey, but just enough I so I can't open windows to cool off. Wind shifted the smoke my direction today  Up to 11,000 acres, guessing it could be 20,000 by next aerial mapping tonight or tomorrow? Yes I'm over sensitive from going through the High Park Fires, but where I normally sit in my house is a direct view of the smoke. I can tell when it hits dense timber/homes vs grass, very sad to watch. Just Thank God I don't have helicopters and tanker bomber planes over my house every 5 minutes like our previous home, I still cringe when I hear them, somehow they are direct connection in my brain to the fear of the unknown (is my home and 20 years of treasured things burned down? Are my neighbors ok? Did they get their pets? etc. ) from previous fire and then floods at my old home. Thanks for letting me vent. Beetle-Kill's comments are reassuring, he's BTSIDI, and one thought was when I moved here was sure it's desolate, but no dead beetle killed timber at single digit humidity. Still true, thanks all of you :)

Got the woodchuck already guys. Funny that I checked around 3:00 and nothing. Wife went back to do some work in the garden and called me to come get a woodchuck. Tomorrow I'll try to get back there and fill in the hole. The stupid animal dug a hole to get under the fence then while he was down there decided to make a new den. Ah ha! We put a stop to that one fast.
