It happens. We borrowed one on a Saturday, Sunday my wife was in serious negotiations about finding one, Monday it followed us home...7'x12' 3 way gate on back, 2' sides. It will haul a lot of wood for a pickup. Had to put air springs on my truck.
I almost went with the PJ, dealer was out of stock on the 12', called Big Tex, same specs as PJ, about $350-400 cheaper.
Sold my wood hauler, if you can believe that.. Owned it about a year is all. About 2 weeks before i posted it for sale, i got the renewal letter in the mail for the sticker. I did replace the trailer of course... Here is the setup i sold, if you cant remember. New owner there in the red chevy.
1969 Wheelhorse, still runs like a tank!! Wish they built stuff today like they did back then! There's a wood hauler in there somewhere!!
Awesome thread with awesome pic's. In the market for a smaller sized wood hauler to move wood around the yard. Besides being busted the wheelbarrow just isn't cutting it and a lot of work. Looking at something like this to attach to the riding mower but can also pull when mower isn't needed!
Check out this at TSC.....SKU # 103478599. Utility Cart......I have 2 n really like them. I cut red n rock oak behind my house. Its rocky...brushy...hilly,etc. Probly brought out 7 cords of wood with the 1 st one I bought (really 11 cords,since I upset it half the time. Not built too bad...if it does upset because of a steep off angle slope....the tongue will flex enough that is doesn't effect the tractor....
Worse thing about them....the rubber tires crack (chinese rubber). I took the first set back to TSC n they ordered 2 new ones....same thing......I just put tubes in them....no more trouble... If you like them....they usually run a sale on them if ur not in a hurry.....reg.199.95....sale 179.95....just sayin
Its been done for about a week now.. Figured id post pictures in order that the progress was made in. 2 ratchet straps keep the sides tight. 1 around the front holds the front tightly against the front gate. Havent decided on putting a strap across the back to squeeze the rear together yet. Front 4' can remain with front and rear gates. So for example if i take the jeep offroading, i can keep 4' in the front boxed in for tools, parts or camping stuff. Ran outta carriage bolts so only part of the front gate is bolted. Rear gate is only wood screwed with high quality fasteners. Might keep it that way and not bolt it all.. Cons - The 16' sections are heavy as heck. Didnt use treated wood.
That is a nice trailer, and a lot of work on those aides!. I think I may take your idea and put removable sides on the front y foot if possible of my 16ft trailer or whatever I can, I was thinking there was 2 stake pockets up there? If there isn't I guess I will either scrap the idea or weld on another set of stake pockets. That way when I take it to get wood I don't have to be as careful and ratchet strap it all as tight
