So I hate the idea of buying firewood unless it comes in the form of a triaxle full of logs. That being said I found an ad for a face cord of oak that was CSS for a year now. The guy was asking 50 bucks for it. I would have never bit on it if it wasn't oak but decided what the heck this will help me get closer to being at least 3 years ahead. I was happy to find once I got it home, stacked and measured it's actually closer to half a full cord! Not bad for 50 bucks! Most of it will be ready to burn this year. The bigger pieces went on the bottom to get more drying time.

I know what you mean, but I also bit the bullet and purchased an additional 8 face cord, giving us 3 full cord going into this winter, and now I'm free to get the second years wood split and stacked, as well as getting another traxle load of logs delivered this summer. So, by the end of summer, I hope to be well on the way to a 3yr plan.
This is another reason why I thought I could part with $50. I figured that's not too much to get me closer to having all of this winter's supply taken care of and working on the futures.
Yeah, nearly 1/2 cord of dry oak for $50 is a great deal. Knowing you have enough wood for the winter, priceless.
That is a great price for oak! Glad this helps you along. A suggestion. Look closely at this picture: May I suggest you do some re-stacking here? Looking at the covering, it is low in the center. Now imagine what happens when it rains. Keep it higher in the center so the water runs off rather than into the stack.
Good eye there I placed pieces in each corner to elevate the metal but never thought about it sagging in the middle. This will be corrected tomorrow. Thank you sir!
