Crud!! Are you staying open or was your shop evacuated too? I'd split and go get the dogs incase it moves towards your neighborhood and they lock it down.

We're still working, some of the guys at the shop live up there so they bailed to try to get through the evacuation lines to get home and pack up. It's going to be crazy around here today. I don't live on this side of the divide, I'm in good shape.

Yikes, I hope they get through, we could not, armed military and police at any possible way. It says the city/county is getting pets out and had a phone number if one of your guys comes back unsuccessful.

They're all back now, couldn't get through. One guy will probably lose his place- he had a report the fire was a couple of feet away.
Helicopters making drops, air attack is circling the fire and buzzing the shop, heavy tankers on their way. Luckily the wind is letting up.

Six days on the road, but we finally made it home tonight. :dancer:

So, we left out last Thurs to go to Iowa for Chazsbetterhalf sons (late) wedding reception, they got married in Feb in Costa Rica and we didn't have the funds for that.

Just got home a while ago, and I'm hiding in the woods in hopes that the lawnmower doesn't find me. :startled:

We split the drive out and back as both Holly and we were getting a bit road weary.

Didn't plan on stopping, so we encountered a $35 "pet deposit" in a hotel that "doesn't allow pets" ;):zip:

On the way back we stayed at a Days Inn who are pet friendly.
    (No "deposit" required)

But, had a great time while we were there, and made it with no issues, or any "chats" with law enforcement along the way.

It's good to be home. :pete::coldone:

We'll find places for them. Our shop foreman lost his place, it was burning as he was loading up his stuff. Another one we don't know about yet.

Not good news at all Beetle-Kill

I can't imagine what this area would like if our forests went up in flames.
    :(

Wish you and your co-workers the best.

Wow. Fires can be very bad news indeed. Perhaps we should pray for much rain in that area.

Stay safe everyone near the fires. Sounds like some really terrible times there.

Good to go on our end. Our foreman may not have lost his place. When I spoke with him, he said a structure protection crew was hitting it with water as he left, so it probably is still standing. Local news hasn't claimed any structures lost but I haven't checked in the last few hours. If it weren't for the density of the homes in that area the fire would not be a big deal. I'll know more tomorrow.

Nursery school graduation today! He didn't really get it, asked me if the party was because it was summertime now. Got an award for being super speedy. Far right. IMG_20180612_11710.jpg

The fire here is going east, not north towards us, still 12+/- miles south of me. Sorry to those east of here, looks like the smoke over Cheyenne, NE and hopefully not as far as IA. Grew to 5,200 acres as of the latest mapping tonight. A bit unnerving that the latest fire crew sent in to help made headquarters at my daughters school.....But also as relieved that they are here to help. I signed up for emergency alerts (added both our cell numbers, our emails, and our home phone) but somehow our city and county changed systems unbeknownst to me, realized that last week when I did not receive alerts on the tornado (granted our power was out for 18 hours but I can still get texts). Still amazed, this place does not get tornadoes and we do not live in the foothills/mountains anymore here for fires. It is what it is, 5th wheel has everything but food if we need to skedaddle in a hurry. Been there, seen it, done it, we can do it again.

Praying for Beetle-Kill 's coworkers, structures lost are often reported a day or two later, and no way to know once they evacuate a neighborhood.

Thanks, I'll pass it on to the guys.
You are in a good defensible area, so don't worry about that fire. You'll be fine. JB
