My husband took short term disability for 3 months. And the surgeon told him no wood chopping in the future ( not that he ever did). So get on the 3 year plan...

Today on the way home, last pic is my yard, same vantage as the one above from last night. Thankfully only 150 acres, but I feel terrible as it's obvious some homes are gone. I offered up the 5th wheel for evacuees on kiddos PTA group at her school, no takers yet, but if it gets too smokey here, we might actually need it far enough for fresh air but close enough for WWW to work. as the wind just shifted S (dead straight for me). Sorry Mag Craft , I heard the smoke is already near you

Next is a makeshift WW panorama if you can put the pics together, going from S to W

Thank you for the suggestions, turns out it's a double whammy summer cold and then he inflamed his allergies. Alka-Seltzer and Affrin to sleep are his cocktail as of tonight.........

My problem has been that I would have needed long term disability, as there is no such thing as light duty in the tech job that I used to have. Just had a technician coworker have one done. But he's old and single without anyone else to support.

I use Zyrtec too and it seems to be the best for whatever is getting to me this year.

You are correct Wildwest the smoke is here in Carpenter already. I understand the fire is at Wycolo near Fox park where I go and cut wood in the Mountains. There is a lot of beetle kill up there.
Good thing I have the 3 year plan, looks like it will be closed down up there for awhile.

I'm getting nervous, they are evacuating Jelm now. Pffft, the High Park Fire is a large part of why we left above Horsetooth in Ft Collins after 21 awesome years loving it there. Still banking on that we're 10-15 miles from the heavy beetle kill area, right? I cannot see anything now since it's dark but atleast I can see some homesteads in the distance so the smoke is not too thick, and I do not see a glow behind the mountain like High Park Fires.

BTW, I'd really like to meet you next time you get up this way :)

Updated info from inciweb and Forest Service, 2300 acres now and inching our way :headbang:

That is why I haven't even had a doctor check on my shoulder issues - I'm semi-old and single and so have no one to do the mowing (and where would that leave the neighbor's mowing needs?), weed whacking, snow blowing, shoveling, stove feeding etc. I'll just have to live with it.

I hope you get some rain soon! I'm sure you have, but pack a bag just in case. And keep your vehicle gassed up.

Got a job offer (new position), with a slightly higher salary than what I figured - basically a 12% raise. Signed the offer and will start accumulating the enhanced pay starting next Monday (beginning of a pay period). Now if they can find someone fairly quickly to take my present job, that would be awesome.

Yes meeting up sometime would be fun.

The fire is bad news up there and is spreading like crazy. Stay safe. If you have to get out of there Carpenter has room for you here.

Speaking of fires, just had one start behind the shop about 2 miles. Already lost some structures and air crews are getting ready to start their runs.
