    June 6th, 53 outside, 62 inside - I lit a fire.

    It's warming up now!

50 here, no fire. Rain and more rain. Anytime I don't have to run the AC's in June is good.

Until about 3 weeks ago We lived in a ....****ing cloud. Its rainy today but not as bad as its been. Its an ok break. We've been having temps from 65 to 85, two hot ones in a row yesterday and day before and good ones for memorial day weekend, good streak of welcom nice weather!! From March to April it seemed to just pour 60 days straight. This isn't out of the ordinary but hard to get to work with all that rain. So I always jump on the first lull I can for anything. So far so good.

Me too, last night. In the low 50's and I started a fire for what I think is the best reason in the world- we were chilly. :D

Last week we were using A/C 'cause it was in the mid- 80's.

Like that old joke: if you do not like the weather in New England, wait a minute....

I let my OWB go out on June 3...of course yesterday and today were pretty darn cold! I lit off the pellet stove yesterday morning to warm up the downstairs at least, but I refuse to use heat unless the boilers cranking.

I'll relight it earlier than usual this year, I'm thinking late Sept (oct 1 the latest). I managed to get about 30-35+ cord of wood piled on my property last year so for the next 3 years or so I plan to light it earlier/burn it longer.

On Sunday (6/3) we had a fire as it was rainy and chilly.
Took the chill out of the house, and kicked the dampness down quite a bit.

2 days earlier I was running the AC as it was 84 out, and 79 inside.

41 outside right now but not bad in the house. Should be okay here until some time in September.

We burn all year round as our wood gasification boiler heats our hot water for domestic use and for heat. We have gone from burning every day in the winter to every couple of days in the spring. May was so warm, it was about once a week but now we are back to normal temps.

Dam! How in the world did you hoard 30-35 cords in a year? Was it all from your land? Do you have a skidder? It boggles my mind.

We do have 40 acres of mostly forested land...but no, none of it from that.

A tree service company here in my town had it piled up from tree removal jobs. He had been paying guys to cut/split it then sold the firewood but he said all said and done is was basically just a break even gig. He wanted it gone. $300 for all of it. Cost me $1000 to have it all trucked to my place but it was well worth it. I normally pay $800/load for log length firewood, this ended up being 10 loads. I took 8 and had the last two dropped off at a friends house. It's 100% hardwood, mostly good manageable sizes but there are a few monsters in the pile.

I'll try to post a pic tomorrow, it's quite the sight. I estimated 35 cord but it may be more like 40+, not really sure. A full truck load is 8-9 cord but because these were randomly sized logs the truck wasn't quite full each load...but even if they were only 5 cord per load 5 X 8 = 40 cord.

Yes, pics please! That was a great deal, as long as you have the space. I bet you find some special wood in there.

I thought about a fire Wednesday night as it was cold . Buckets on both chimneys caused me to turn up the 'pane .
