Tackling a huge pine tree...any advice

    Looks like a piece of cake.... Just drop the individual limbs one at a time instead of the whole thing.... That way you can hit the house at the right, the fence, the garage and the driveway all with one tree.. Might as well park your car on the left side of the pic too so you can get that!!:doh:

    Seriously though, shouldn't be too hard... get a rope as high up as you can and pull parallel to the property line.. two lines 90 degrees apart 45 degrees from your hinge would help control the fall should the hinge break on the way down.. If you're not confident enough, get someone else to drop it..

    Well I also realized what a hunk of $h!t my craftsman chainsaw is...and as soon as I get married in November, I'm saving up for a nice stihl or echo chainsaw!!!

    Nah. I was pulling 24-26" logs 5' long last week up mom's paved driveway. Tires were howling most of the way. :eek:

    I hear ya. I skidded 100 or so with mine the summer before we build our house. Up to 12" white poplar I could skid the whole tree. Just had to keep it moving.

    2002 model 500 still on the original belt

    Get the saw first.

    You could always climb that tree and piece it down with a pruning saw.
