I had a Dutch Elm Disease Elm 2 feet from the house that had to go. The last big windstorm put some big branches on the roof as well. A good neighbour, some cables and chains, a come-a-long and the Dolmar 5105 brought it down. The little Stihl MS-170 was used on the roof where light weight was better than raw power.

Earlier another neighbour brought over some of her Cree Indian cooking. I gave her permission to pot a moose out behind my barn a while back. (I'm too fat now, but who's complaining.)

Dry dead elm is great for burning! It will keep you nice and warm up there in Sask.
What did the Cree lady cook for you?

Owb’ers snacks. If I had one, cut the max length of the splitter and split once and leave it for however long. Hope you got some pichas!

It burns just fine in my stove when well seasoned.

NH mountain man, I was only thinking for those who’s struggled with this kinda wood. If it ever got gnarled and all that jazz, whole rounds if stove friendly sized can justify it being burned not messed with. But Backwoods Savage has the video to prove it can be done. Just...wait right? :)

You speak the truth, when I used to split by hand, I let it sit for years. Now with 25 tons of hydro, I just blow it apart. I got older and smarter, and could afford a splitter.

Some Moose Jerky, a type of sausage and Ukrainian style cabbage rolls. I've already burned a pile of elm over the last few winters.
