10 pm news on here. Family is asleep. Fun but very long and very busy eventful day, hoping to get good sleep tonight. Had a bbq with my friend and her grandkids, thunderstorms, and a tornado warning (huh?!?). Too bad, we rented a bobcat this weekend (NOT cheap) and the weather is so bad. Kiddo lost another tooth. I love this little person so much I cannot find the words for it.

Another cold morning, supposed to get up to 68 today though. My stepdaughters marching band is in a parade this morning, then is having a friend over after. I think I am gonna start grabbing the oak on the access road to my neighborhood that came down in the nor'easter before someone beats me to the rest of it.

Unless theres poison ivy. I've never seen so much in my life as there is around here.

Woke up to rain this morning which seems to have cleared up. campinspecter headed out for another load of that awesome yellow cedar he has been hoarding and loving every minute of it. The supervisors went along as well even though they have to stay in the truck.

I had planned on moving some more wood into my wood shed but it started raining about 5:30 this morning and continues to rain. We are going to friends home by noon. No outside work today.

Been putting a few mile on the bike in this nice weather; at least nice for riding. A bit too hot for much work so we'll play!

Well, the oak I was planning to pick up did have some poison ivy around it. Just a little, but I have to travel for work at the end of this week, and trying to focus in meetings with the itchies wouldn't be fun. Might just have to let that stuff all wait until fall.

Where i intend to stack it had a lil PI too. So I just carpet bombed that area with pesticide.

Don't forget those who serve or served, and remember those who gave all for what we have today.

I'd like to thank all who served, but I'd like to share a poem for the far too many veterans out there who have come home only to suffer alone and isolated.

    "Dreams" - April 25, 2018

    "That old man,
    down at the town square,
    with his callus ridden hands,
to his wise eyes in tears,
he doesn't dream at night in his bed,
    he dreams in the rain,
    that he had a bed,
yet he doesn't dream of a bed for himself,
    he dreams of a bed,
    he could give someone else.
    he looks to the stars,
    they don't shine tonight,
He looks back to the start,
    and replays his life,
    his hair is a mess,
    his heads in a whirl,
    he looks down in distress,
he just wants peace in this world.
    he watches the sun rise,
feels the heat of the dawn,
    he hears a child's cries,
    punished yet done nothing wrong.

he stands up with a purpose,
    he stands up with hope,
He don't know where his world is,
And the end might be close.
    He walks as he's mourning,
    he can barely stand,
    the crow caws good morning,
The humans don't give a damm.
He looks in the trash bin,
    no breakfast there today,
but he finds a lost dollar,
    and he puts it away.
    Just one can of stew,
    that's all it can buy,
    it used to buy more,
he knows all too well why.
    he needs more,he deserves more,
    but need doesn't pay,
    but his dollar will gamble,
He might make it through the day.
    clerk reluctantly serves him,
as he goes on his way.
and they want to forget him,
    but they remember all day.
he puts the stew in the food bank,
he has a reason to go on,
he has given up his meal,
    but his hunger is gone.

    he once served his country,
    He lost all his friends,
    he returned to his country,
but who won in the end?
    he'll never get over it,
what he seen in the war,
    he didn't lose his life,
but he lost so much more.
    they once called him noble,
    they once called him brave.
    40 years down the road,
he might as well be a slave.
he can hold in one hand,
what he has left to save,
he's got his hands in his pockets,
and his feet in his grave."

The lilac is in full bloom! Seems a bit earlier and this is the most blooms I've seen since we moved here, so beautiful and they smell delicious!! I'd guess this one was planted in the 60's when built this addition to the home.
