Another cold morning, supposed to get up to 68 today though. My stepdaughters marching band is in a parade this morning, then is having a friend over after. I think I am gonna start grabbing the oak on the access road to my neighborhood that came down in the nor'easter before someone beats me to the rest of it.

Unless theres poison ivy. I've never seen so much in my life as there is around here.

 

Swap ya...I don't think it got under 70 overnight, 77* right now, supposed to be 88-89* for a high...yuck! (oh and when it gets that warm around here, its almost always high humidity...double yuck!)

 

Well last nite got cold enough for bonfires sweatshirts and shots!!

 

What, like flu shots?! It wasn't that cold, was it?!

 

Woke up to rain this morning which seems to have cleared up. campinspecter headed out for another load of that awesome yellow cedar he has been hoarding and loving every minute of it. The supervisors went along as well even though they have to stay in the truck.

 

Celebrating with a buddy whose dad (ret. Marine) had heart surgery and came home yesterday!

Started as how to catch up week of work and bids.. Til I said, bonfire and a toast to this fantastic problem

A small business owner busy season.

 

I had planned on moving some more wood into my wood shed but it started raining about 5:30 this morning and continues to rain. We are going to friends home by noon. No outside work today.

 

95 and humid here today. Yuck.

 

They missed...93 right now...not sure is that will be the high or not...I really need to go to the garage and spend a lil more time working the kinks out of that wood fired AC system...

 

Hard at work today cooking and staying hydrated.

Well, the oak I was planning to pick up did have some poison ivy around it. Just a little, but I have to travel for work at the end of this week, and trying to focus in meetings with the itchies wouldn't be fun. Might just have to let that stuff all wait until fall.

Where i intend to stack it had a lil PI too. So I just carpet bombed that area with pesticide.

 

You should come south, high of 63, but a touch humid.

No poison ivy here.. That I've seen but am not allergic so I might have missed it.

I'd like to thank all who served, but I'd like to share a poem for the far too many veterans out there who have come home only to suffer alone and isolated.

The humans don't give a damm.
He looks in the trash bin,
no breakfast there today,

and he puts it away.
Just one can of stew,
that's all it can buy,
it used to buy more,
he knows all too well why.
he needs more,he deserves more,
but need doesn't pay,
but his dollar will gamble,
He might make it through the day.
clerk reluctantly serves him,
as he goes on his way.
and they want to forget him,
but they remember all day.
he puts the stew in the food bank,
he has a reason to go on,
he has given up his meal,
but his hunger is gone.

he once served his country,
He lost all his friends,
he returned to his country,
but who won in the end?
he'll never get over it,
what he seen in the war,
he didn't lose his life,
but he lost so much more.
they once called him noble,
they once called him brave.
40 years down the road,
he might as well be a slave.
he can hold in one hand,
what he has left to save,
he's got his hands in his pockets,
and his feet in his grave."
