Perhaps Madame Natasha is a samba band groupie.:cool:

One can always find a use for pea gravel, perhaps a paver patio with a pea gravel base.:sherlock:

IMHO, horizontal splitting only makes sense if the rounds are huge, and you don't have a log lift.

That depends on where you are. Tecumseh engines were made less than 5 miles from my house. You can find a ton of parts of you need them, but they typically don't need anything. They were well built engines. Briggs and Stratton bought them out because they were better starting engines in the cold than B&S engines. You can get nearly 40 years of hard use from these little engines if you take care of them.:)

The JCP unit you had was probably a rebranded Didier splitter, like the one I use down here at home. Didier sold chitloads of them, to many different resellers.

That's it! I had mine painted up yellow and black and referred to it as 'The Stinger'. It did have a Tecumseh vs the Briggs in this photo.

    I do not miss it.

I bought the CL 25t this a month or so ago. It's a well built machine with a good operator layout. Just watch the splitter trash plugging up the beam holes

What price do you show? Whenever you click that link it will go to the pricing for your local store...unless you go in and manually change "your store". Our local store shows $799...anybody have a cheaper price showing?
It is a good time of year to twist the managers arm on price for their leftover log splitter inventory...I'm sure they want it out of their road for the summer.

They work well. If you use it the proper way, you don't get sore. . I actually prefer to use the didier to the mtd 20ton that is just like Backwoods Savage 's. The predator motor upgrade really made the old splitter much better vs the old Briggs 5hp that was on it.

Those didier splitters will outlast all of us, that's all I have to say.

They're just built really well. Newer homeowner splitters are cheaply made in comparison.

You would think I was settled on the CL but I stumbled across this guy on ebay:
Huskee 22 Ton Log Splitter Practically New! | eBay

Thoughts? I know the CL is new but the logical part of my mind says that if people are able to get 8 bills for used Huskees there may be a reason. Also, while I was sold on vert, I do have a bad back (sciatica) and am worried about all the bending over. Thanks in advance as always.

Wow - that seems to be the same price ballpark as a new one?

It all comes down to preferences of course, but I would always want a H/V splitter for what I do. It might get used in H mode for 95% of the time, but if it couldn't go V for the other 5%, that would really stink. Being able to chunk the big ones up easily by switching to vertical is way worth it to me. I also have a touchy back - if I will be in vertical for a while it's not much problem to find some sort of seat. Rounds work good for that, even.

Kind of like having a 4x4 truck. Might only need the 4x4 5% of the time, but it's priceless when you use it.

Huskees work fine...nothing special IMO...I've used my neighbors, it splits wood just like my Champion does.
Can't hurt to go look at it, make an offer, see what happens. No tax to pay that way either...
Oh, and I agree, I use mine vertically maybe 2-3% of the time...but its a priceless option when you need it! Those big rounds don't get any lighter with age!

I just contacted him. It does vertical as well. There's no tax but the CL is only a bit more with tax. Again, if there's no difference there's no difference. I also don't know how much the little table thing goes for.
