Not sure if you have been there but in Superior Wisc, they have a great museum dedicated to Richard Bong.

They have a perfect copy of Marge, his P38 on display inside. Sweet plane indeed!

    Exactly!

Theres nothing more relaxing than sitting outside late on a beautiful summer night and listening to the guy on the lake with the rat boat with the open exhaust motering around for no obvious reason....or the boat full of kids that cruise around the shore slooowly with a radio BLASTING screaming at 11pm. I almost went down and put a few rounds into the water on their third trip by one night. Dog was wigging out, kids waking up.

This is how we moved our Fireview. Ratchet strapped it to the dolly and into the house it went. Had to go up some steps so a couple 2 x 10's worked well along with help from a couple strong neighbor guys.

One more thing we did was to not uncrate the thing until we got it right next to the hearth.

I've got the same problem with the pontoons on the lake......only I call them "drunktoons"!

Yeah noisy, obnoxious, abrasive, foul mouthed, and poor drivers to boot.

Oh yeah, we heard our first fireworks 2 nights ago at the lake. Seems a guy bought a cottage 1/4 mile away and is still in the bachelor fishing buddy stage of his life...

I heard fireworks a month ago, and again two weeks ago. A few neighbors do some awesome displays for the Fourth of July, but otherwise it's aggravating. 11:00 at night on a random night isn't a great time to start lighting off quarter sticks.

8pm and thus far it's still quiet in the neighborhood. Saw a boat out earlier putting around, but that's it.

We shall see what tomorrow brings.

I can hear lots of Harleys out and about in the distance, that's it though.

Got home @5 tonight, took Holly for our walk and let her chase chipmunks and red squirrels, then mowed for 2&1/2 hours. About half done, but ran out if gas. Need to get 5 gal of non-ethanol for 2 stroke mix also.

After that got on the ATV and went back to the woods with Holly and a few beers till sun went down.

Not a huge fan of mowing, too boring.
But at least the honeysuckle is in bloom.
    :D
    I love that smell.

Little over two months ago my 96 year old mom fell and broke her left leg right above the knee. She has been in a nursing home for rehab since her discharge from the hospital. She had been making slow but steady improvements until this morning when she fell again and broke her left leg, this time in a different spot. The local hospital decided, since she had already had hardware from the break a couple of months ago along with hardware from a broken hip 8 years ago, it would be best to send her to St. Mary's hospital in Rochester, MN. With it being a holiday weekend, they may not get to surgery until Tuesday. We are hoping they can get to it before then. When the phone rings at 5:30 in the morning and it is from the nursing home, that is not a good thing. At least I got most of the lawn mowed yesterday. Fun never stops.

Thanks NortheastAl Chaz and milleo. It is going to be a rough few months for her and we doubt she will get out of the nursing home. She had been in assisted living but I think this brings that part of her life to a close.

Not at the cottage, but here in town there was a house bought by party people...snowmo's in the winter-atv's in the summer....that always seem to light off fireworks when they get home. :picard:
