Still dealing with much above average weather after our winter thrashing. It still gets cool overnight but nothing a blanket won't fix. Stove sitting there all lonely.

Well, I thought I'd need this fire for a couple days so I loaded up last night.. no heat demand today though, so I shut the draft fan off and I'll let er die back until the next one, which should be pretty easy to light with a burn chamber full of charcoal. :)

We did light a small fire to take the damp chill off and it felt good. Now there is probably enough wood left on the porch for one more fire. Hopefully that will not be needed.

It was 39ºF Friday night, almost went out and got some pine for a fire Saturday morning . Almost. Before the thunderstorms came thru it was warmer out than in. Almost opened windows to let the heat in but we were making apple pie and rhubarb jam so the kitchen is cozy warm and I'm up a little late trying to get some pectin out of the apple peels and cores.

I see it with dead standing oak too, water wet dries right back out nice and quick.

Held off on a fire this morning. Hoping to be okay but more rain moving toward us so we may even up with another fire in the stove yet.

Yeah mine got a vacation, cleaned up the outside, need to brush and vacuum inside. At least since March no fire. But I maybe wrong.

We had a real cold Sat here. Temps started out mild in the morning but then within 20 minutes, dropped 10-20 degrees and just kept dropping until they bottomed out around 40 ish or so but with a very cold wind that made it miserable to be outside fishing!

Kept four and fried them up for breakfast on Sun morning!

About 80°F/ 27°C this afternoon. A big poplar blew down into the wheat field, so it's getting converted into next winter's firewood. Dolmar 5105 on the job.

Been in the low 50's here all day, cloudy with an East wind & sideways rain. Lit a Pine fire just after noon & gonna keep it going overnight. Just damp & chilly outside. Still waiting for 70 & sunny dry weather here. Haven't had much of that. It'll probably go 80's & humid.

It least it's cool, in the low 60°'s. Cherry and mystery wood (not maple or ash) in the front, black locust in the middle, oak in the way back and a little elm to the back left.

Yum! What’s the size limit around there? Summer size for Iowa is anything below 13 inches and anything above 15. IIRC..... I had one that was so close to 15 and that was my best judgment.
I put them back(caught 2 of the same size) but that one was just hurting me to keep. Didn’t seem fair enough.

If we had a pool, it’d have been open already, form 2 weeks ago.....

I was going to eat dinner on the back deck tonight, but it’s a tad bit cooler in the house:wacky:
