Same way in most places, cities are full of brain-dead Libtoids and the people with common sense live in the country. Snow Flakes and Libtoids cannot exist outside of their "asphalt jungles"...........................................

Relative story ,,,,,my ex 10 years ago from NYC ,,, when she first moved here was bound and determined to call the SPCA, humane society and health dept on the dairy farm next door. She would go insane driving by the feedlot in the winter claiming cruelty for allowing those cows to be outside in the winter. I informed her that she would be eating along side the cows had I caught wind the farmer had a visit from any such agency. Her NYC mentality was the demise of our relationship.

It's not blue vs red, it's actually rural vs metro. I don't understand them, and they don't understand me. Used to be that common principles and beliefs were shared among these two tribes, lately the middle ground has become much narrower. My side is played as under-educated (this really grinds my gears) and backwards while the other side is played as elitist and out of touch.

I love my Country. I hope we can start to find some more in common with each other, but I don't think that will happen. Many of the values and freedoms that my side cherishes are thought to be wrong or dated by the other side. They think 'progress'. I think 'destruction of my Nation and what is has been for 243 years'. We got to the top of the heap riding upon the prinicples and beliefs laid out by some really smart men. We're still on top (in my opinion), so why all the need for change?

There's still pockets where resistance is not futile.

Heaping large numbers of people together and calling them names is always helpful.

I can't quite spit out what I'm trying to say there, but I think the gist of it comes across.

I just can't see any gains in common ground barring another World War happening. That's the one time when we tend to come together...for a righteous fight. Of course the flip side is when we decide to have a go at ourselves. I think the Civil War is why many Nations would never dare challenge the US in a knock down, drag out. Everyone saw what we were willing to and capable of doing to ourselves. Imagine having both sides of that angry with you.

I wonder sometimes how ideals/values in CA or NY got so far away from those in WV or WY? We are all US Citizens, after all. I can only come to the conclusion that we are 'bored'. Meaning; we don't have to try to survive anymore...life has become too easy, so now we quabble endlessly over relatively inconsequential topics. People in Uganda are not having discussions about hurt feelings and safe spaces. Victims of our own success? Perhaps...we shall see.

It's called bigotry and I myself am sometimes guilty of it. It runs rampant now in the media. The Public has followed suit. There are certain people and groups who benefit from the division.

One of the big problems is that people have gotten too far away from the land and most it seems no longer understand much about nature.

Thoreau was really correct when he said something about living thick and in each other's way and so losing respect for one another. Not the exact wording but close.

I believe that you hit the problem on nose.
I remember years ago there was a program (can't remember the name of the program) where a country family could host an inter-city kid for a week. Some of the stories would amaze you.
Kids never saw a forest before. Didn't realize that their hamburger came from a cow. Thought McDs, Krogers or Walmart manufactured the hamburger.

That goes along with what I said, I think...fruits of manual labor, self sufficiency, etc....surviving by your own means. To we country folks, that means a garden, an orchard, gathering firewood, etc. Prettywell not an option for the Metro populations, unfortunately. I did read about urban gardening starting to become a thing...good news.

I also agree on Thoreau...though there is an exception....The Japanese. For the life of me I can't figure how they get along so well. 13+ million living in Tokyo city. I believe Respect and honor have a lot to do with it. I will add though...they are pretty homogeneous. Not much in the way of diversity. Perhaps that is the key?

A friend up the street owns an apple orchard. In the Fall he does hay rides, mostly the local college kids. Kids that have no clue what an apple tree is or where pumpkins come from. Every year college kids seeing apple trees for the first time.
