Totally amazed you got this much done in last couple months. Most of my weather comes from your area. 5 inches of rain here in last 30 days, frost coming out and snow. Your trails look good.

It sure has been some chitty weather since we started but we did what we could each day. I've had about a weeks worth of appointments since we started too (doctor) I'd rather work in the snow than the rain.

I'm not sure how much rain we received but the brook is moving pretty good. I'll have some fixing up of one trail around the house but most of them held up pretty good.

With the two big pines we paid to have taken down along with all the pine from the garage area we'll be set for five years worth of shoulder season wood if not more.

Picture 1400 is before I started the cleanup today and 1405 is after. I did lots of raking up small branches with pine needles and found an area to fill.

I cleaned up the forest floor so I could get the tractor in the back so I could buck up the pine branch and take it to the pine pile. Tomorrow I'll be working on the bigger piece of pine down with the hopes of moving that to the pile.

I also want to clean the branches up on that side so we'll be ready to fell the last four trees and then we'll have more cleanup. :zip:

I had my last two appointments this morning (none for the rest of the summer) so by the time I came home.....ate lunch and the winds picking up (wind gust close to 50 mph) starting at two this afternoon, I'll start up another day.

I did sharpen about 8 or 9 chains last night of different lengths so we'll be set in that category. Before my appointments I filled up two five gallon diesel containers so we'll be set for diesel.

This was the last pine on the westside of the garage we plan on taking down (I hope) so we did that and then hauled the branches and lastly the logs out of that area.

I'm not sure what the weather will be tomorrow but if it's just rain I'll be working but if we also have higher winds then it will wait.

We have two pine and one smaller cherry that will come down on the northeast side of the garage but I'll do more cleanup first.

After working in all the chitty weather to get the trees down, the contractor has informed us that he'll start in June. That has given me time to start stacking so after I stack some Cherry, I'll get some of the Pine up for the fall of 2019 and beyond.

Because of some places being broken into in our area, I doubt that I'll post anything else on the build.

That must be one heck of an opening in the woods you are sawed out! So far, no mention of injuries so things must be going well for you.

I'm not sure at this time if I'll post anymore but we'll see. About three years ago the house down from the one that was just broken into had chit stolen, they caught the guy that did that.

Yes it is, will be glad when the garage is up so we have more privacy again.

I've started stacking but I still have some stuff to do.

Depending on the winds tomorrow, it's back to clearing the last of the trees we want down before the garage build starts. We have 1 maybe 2 smaller Cherry trees with one double trunk Pine and a second Pine that will come down.

Three out of the four trees are on the backside of the garage along a trail, once these come down the trail in that area will be easy to get through in the winter, especially the plowing.

Best thing I ever did was clear 20 foot behind garage, so could get tractor and tool around easier.. If I owned 50 feet back side of it at least 1 bay would have drive thru access.

Same thing here. I've got at least that much of parking behind the garage...(summer-boat trailer)

After the welcomed rain stopped, I took down a small cherry which will make getting through that end of the trail in the winter easier.

In the second picture #1 pine will come down tomorrow followed by some limbing, bucking and splitting, #2 is a double trunk pine that will come down later tomorrow but most likely early the next morning.

#1 in the above picture is down with most of it bucked up but still out front, tomorrow I'll either split it there or move the rounds.

Once I get the above done I'll get one of the double trunk pine down which will leave me with the last trunk for the next day. It will be nice to have this job (felling) over with so I can do more cleanup and stacking.

I had to do some running around today so I didn't get much done.We still have some ice underneath the chips.

It's under all the chips on the southwest side and not the area I'm working but we have another pile of chips not far from the area I'm working and I bet there's still ice underneath those to.

Remember, thats just how they used to store the ice throughout the summers....bedded and covered in sawdust. There still is an old ice house on the lake but it is used for storage now-a-days.

I'm glad you mentioned it, we have the old rail spur line going down to ice house (no longer there ) on the pond behind me. This region used to send ice all down the east coast to the big cities.
