My brother is in south Colo. It's so dry there all the time, their log home's wood sides don't fade or rot over time. In Maine, it's a bigger issue with plenty of rain. Their firewood dries very quickly there too.
Nothing in the GH yet Still to cold. Late April / 1st of May I can plant the GH Sorry the ice got you. Get well soon, Summer is close.
All I know is the wood is drier now than when it was stacked there. Pic from the stack then , in Oct 30, 2013: Pic from yesterday 2nd pictures looks drier than the first picture, (5 months since stacked) Guessing a few hundred pound of water has left the 7 cord stack thru the winter.
Great halibut fishing there Lot cooler there thru summer, little warmer but wetter thru winter. Right on the edge of the saltwater, Cook Inlet
They bought a large house and will be partnering with another organization that pilots pastors and missionaries to remote villages in AK. Their home will be used for a retreat for those that have been in the field and need some R&R to regroup.

Bogydave, it's starting to sound like the group wants you to host a GTG. Only problem is you may have some permanent tents in your backyard!
Big "Road trip" ! Bring some Hickory, Oak & Locust, would live to try some in the stove. Lots of room for tents. Permanent tents? Good luck, -20° f & 60 mph winds might make it tough.
