Oh heck no. Those pics are of the oak rounds you cut for me. Taken in early march, I think they were. Sent from my SM-T280 using Tapatalk
I don't take much red oak to the splitter. I can use the exercise and in short burst a Fiskars x27 will out perform and gas splitter. Nothing like wood that splits in a single strike of the axe.
Most of the time I will lift them with the tractor onto the beam. In the field to get them out is noodle time, shoulder dislikes the mall and wedge approach.
Yea I have some big red oak with knots the size of a football so no x27 for those. Have to noodle them.
I'd be doing the same. I last four red oaks I have split have been 3' in diameter with the first limb 40+' from the stump. Beautiful straight grain wood that probably should have been turned into sawlogs, but I they were deep in the woods and I don't have the equipment to drag them out. All these trees uprooted in wind and ice storms over the last few years.
Same thing here Some have uprooted. Some the tops broke off. Some just snapped right in the middle. Some standing dead. All red oaks.
Yea, Finally Been a cool Spring so far. Had a Couple days above 50° , Lakes becoming liquid water again In the 30°s at night Still burning
