Looks like we're in for a few really nice days here.

Picture is one my son sent. He will be staying there (it's in India) while doing some seminars.

My trusty old craftsman table saw died tonight.

I bought that 11 years ago when we moved in and it was a lot for us but the house needed work and it was one of the cheaper models that we could afford at the time. It’s served us well and I have built a LOT of furniture and done a lot of home repairs with it.

Sad day indeed... :( might have been cheaper model but it definatly did gooder... I kinda liked that little guy and became very familiar with it and all it’s quirks.

Told the wife this time I’ll spring for a good quality track saw and try to source a decent motor for the table saw. Maybe it’s probably cheaper to buy another table. :picard:

Maybe check the start capacitor ? Is there a thermal cut-off that needs to be reset?

No it’s smoked out the windings are burned black and the protective insulated coating is gone off the copper. I was really hoping that was the problem too.

Ah, if the rest is good, sourcing a motor might be the way.

I have a 1980's Craftsman 10" bench saw with side tables. It is not fancy, but it has cut a lot over the years.

So far I’ve found two used motors so there may be hope yet. Maybe I can scrounge up a new one.....

Just gonna leave that Pete-tastic spelling alone....:hair::zip:

Go buy another cheapie table saw.... you obviously got 11 gooder years out of a lower quality Craftsman, kind of a no brainer

That would be a clemsonfor spell check momento_O:rofl:

Because I built it into my workbench and use a very snazzy biesemeyer fence with it. Kinda being lazy I don’t really want to build another table / bench top:whistle:...

I’m pretty sure I found a motor on eBay!!!!:dex: New in box! Waiting for the seller to tell me if it’s new for sure if so it’s coming home!

Message sent as fast as I could.

Odd but, does anyone have a kind dustpan they prefer? I warped (melted) one of our plastic ones with hot ashes, the other was stepped on and cracked (duct tape did not do the job this time). There was an older metal one here, you know, copper colored with roosters on it, is bent and dented too many times over the last 40 years but good for ashes lol). I saw a metal one at HB years ago, but they want an arm and a leg for shipping.

I picked up a top handle metal pan at tractor supply we use it a lot. It’s good and tough for everything it encounters. It’s taken a beating and lasted a long time.

I prefer anything with a vertical handle, what some folks call a sweep box. Less bending:yes:

I marked the canister vacuum I was selling as "sold". I neglected to put the back and washed filter back in and let the prospective buyer try out :picard:, and I tried to disassemble it today, one bolt was not removable (to my knowledge), so I cracked the casing. It's a good vacuum, just too hard for my gimpy self to pull around the house kwim?) I finally got in there and got the wool that I could get to out of the motor (very old wool rug, it sheds with the brush roller....). Seems to work ok now and WWW likes it for the boat, so this clunky thing will remain here.

Thanks guys for the suggestion on a dust pan :) Turns out the TSC ones are store pickup only, but I see a similar one at walmart, a bit more but they will ship. PS, my silly failed repair on the cracked dustpan is in the last picture
