Just above freezing this morning, with temps heading near 20 C/mid 60's later. Fishing season opens today so hopefully we'll get to the river and give it a go. Sad little fire to chase the chill away.

They say we may hit 80 again today then a cooling off for a couple days then back to the 70's. Typical May weather. 30's for 2 nights but fortunately no frost of freezing expected. That is good because we should see apple and peach blossoms any time now.

Snowed a bit last night . But that has melted off. That's nice. Solid overcast and breezy this morning . most of the snow has gone out of the yard. But its still too soft to clean and rake up. Might go out in the woods today. See if I can get around without getting too stuck.

6" of snow at Mentasta Pass on the Tok Highway CutOff.
Sounded my #1 stove oil tank yesterday.
We burned right around 100 gallons of stove oil this past winter.
The Toyo OM22 is a Great little heater. As near as I can figure. We burned around 6 cord of wood. Mostly poplar. Possibly closer to 5 cord. I did run the house a bit cooler than I usually do the past month.
I attribute the reduced wood use to fully banking most of the cabin and the warm December.

Good morning ya'll, 58 here and very still and overcast with some rain coming. The birds are singing away as it's that time of year. The Red Maples are starting to leaf out as well as the poplars, the Oaks not yet. In a week or ten days we should have leafs on our trees. I've been picking up more wood here and there, about two more truckloads. I don't know when I'll get to cutting that up, as the focus is shifting to lawn and garden preparation. Enjoy your Sunday, and on this the lords day, practice a random act of kindness to someone in need of a good deed.

I'll say it again. I am so happy that winter is finally over for us. 60 degrees this morning and now as I sit here looking out the window I see green leaf all over the place and lots and lots of birds. A few bugs too but we do need some of those to feed the birds.

I havent been around much lately because of a heavy work load. My son and I took our firearms course this weekend so that was fun, Ive wanted to do that for way to long so its good that Im learned up (at least as far as the law is concerned). Weve had some real warm weather lately with temps up to 23c/73f although we are still seeing frost in the mornings when its clear. We had snow close to the house last week so I had a fire but I havent been burning much lately which Im fine with. Its hard to say Im truly done for the season as we get cool wet weather this time of year that will make me want to fire up the stove. The trees are budding and Ive seen my first dandelion of the season!

We had a small fire yesterday morning to take the chill off. It got down close to freezing but fortunately no frost. Apple blossoms are slowly working their way out. Some now in that red stage which to me is the pretty stage for apple blossoms rather when they open and then just look basically white.

The north wind blew in some cold air today. The wind's gone down, but its just below freezing now. Poplar in the stove.

Stove season is over here, going to clean the ashes out and get the container of damp rid in the firebox. If we have any cool evenings we'll kick up the boiler. Just moved what was left on the patio to the neighbors house for their fire pit. Has been hanging in the high 70's and low 80's through the days.
