    I hear you brother.

My mom's being a real pita. 74 and alone, without any common sense, living 3.5 hrs away from the nearest family (me). I've got 2 brothers, but both are on opposite coasts.

Stump grinding is zero fun, especially with a junker rental.

Someone should move closer to her. After all, she has friends there (one assumes) and knows the area. Younger people are more mobile and can get out to do new things and meet new people. Elderly are sometimes at the mercy of family if they have to move in - depending on relatives to take them places (or even know where to go and what is available to do) - heck just to get to a local senior center (assuming one is available) where they may, or may not make friends. It is even worse if they currently live in town and can walk a few places, but have to move to the country.

Not trying to start anything, just food for thought about the PITA in your life :salute:.

When she starts falling down, living alone isn't tenable anymore. Even with a medical alert bracelet/necklace. Can you ask her doctor to do a cognitive assessment? It's useful information, and it's a data point that can be referred to later.

Going to have an outdoor lab this morning.

Measuring coarse woody debris. Should be interesting. There are areas where we shouldn't have to fight the snow....one area es completely out of the question due to the snow that refuses to leave!

Using some type of formula to find out the tons per acre after we get our measurements. This should be the last lab as classes are just about done with now-just a few more tests and a few more reports :hair: :headbang: and then back to hoarding full time.

Getting new generator installed this morning. Will be happy when power goes off and I don't have to start the generator nor pull out all the cords and hook things up. Now it will be automatic and that is good because of how often our power goes out here.

Good luck with the new generator. This is coincidental since my son has been wiring up his home for his new generator. It just arrived this morning and he will do the final hookup. His will not be automatic but a bit easier to do the switchover. He’s putting in a remote start from inside the house.

Might get close to 90° up here in the next few days. Major temp swings are just crazy.

Generator hooked up and we're good to go. This is a big relief for me. It goes back to last fall as I laid in the hospital and was told I was close to death. I decided right then this year, if I lived, would be mostly dedicated to making sure my wife would be taken care of should I pass on before her.

In addition, 2 weeks ago we lost power and I could not start the generator. Had to ask neighbor to come start it because my back was so bad I could not pull the cord. Now wife won't have to worry about that nor will I and no more getting cords out and hooking up to freezers, refrigerator, etc.
