We bought a newer Maytag dryer about a year ago, works great, lint screen is a PITA to get the lint off it. Says to "roll the lint off". Ummm, ya, no dice. (ps I've washed it twice). My pics are kinda gross, but they demonstrate that I was able to get one cell semi- clean but not the others. I don't have all day to stand over trash can trying to scrape the other cells.

Rinse it off in a sink or vacuum it off if you have a vac nearby? PITA no matter what.

I mentioned to the Mrs. that someone should sell a small, quiet wall mounted vac with a short length hose to clean the screen and the top where the lint settles.

We bought an older second-hand Maytag just down the road a bit from you and we are able to easily roll the lint off (finger pressure dragged across screen). But it looks like a different design, as we don’t have the intermediate supports. Maybe they changed the design but not the suggestions!

I'll try it! Did similar as a fast pitch softball pitcher back in the day.

Tried used dryer sheets with no success.

The one cell in the above pic I did get kind of clean? It was because I dried a load of jeans on damp dry because I had to pull my jeans out from WWW's since mine are (mysteriously shrinking while they are in the dresser   ) Anyway sounds like a good idea. We go through more laundry here than I might think and this thing drives me crazy.

I'm accustomed to old aluminumish ones from back when, then a course fabric one from my 2004 dryer. This one is VERY fine mesh tiny fishing line stuff.

Do you have a pet hair roller? I don't know if that would work, but it's worth a try.

Just curious... Is this just this machine's lint trap or is this a new trend for the newer dryers?

Get majority off and hit it with some comp air. May be a pain if not in close proximity to shop.:(

Must be something new...we have no issues with cleaning our Maytag Neptune dryer screen...it is an older one though too.
I wonder if a small piece of the "male side" Velcro stuck to a fingertip would work?

    Canned air would probably work

Try and skip cleaning it for a load and then see if that makes it any easier? Looks like a huge pita

Dryer is heating good? Not having to run a couple cycles to dry clothes? Looks like a restricted dryer vent causing wet lint buildup

In addition to above check your vent line . I have seen build ups in the vent line cause this- worst case neighbors vent line started a fire.

Good advice, thank you the wet lint buildup makes a lot of sense blujacket and chris . I do not have a vent line at the moment, I vent inside during the winter for some humidity and heat (it's electric). I have a short couple foot section of plastic white accordian type attached to this:
This contraption above is clean, the short vent line is clean, and I vacuumed as far as I could get inside the dryer vent outlet on the dryer last year when WWW insulated that room.

    That said-----------

I'm blessed to have a friend (previous neighbor) that still visits here and there and helps me clean, including laundry. She runs huge loads of laundry (big washer, huge dryer capacity) where as I don't pack as much in when I do laundry, and she DOES have to run 2 cycles!!. Thank you for the common sense, I will get INSIDE the dryer soon! I got so caught up in the new lint trap being a PITA it didn't dawn on till your responses to me that I have done the washing/scrubbing the lint screen twice in recent months (too often for a family of 2.5 imho). Want to bet I'll find a clog in there somewhere ?!?!?

I asked WWW to put pallets underneath it to save my knees and back loading/unloading the laundry from it, so I can't scoot it out by myself, hopefully after dinner tonight and I can get in there better in daylight tomorrow.

RCBS , I think this just may have turned into a PSA (Public Service Announcement) on dryer vent safety!

Looks like the window unit A/C filters. The only you could ever really get those clean was rinsing in the sink. Glad I have an old dryer! Being the only one in a house of six that ever seems to clean the lint trap, I feel your pain.

I must preface with men that do laundry, vacuum, or mop are sexy!! That said this reminded me of Grizzly Adam post a few years ago, every time he tried to use the vacuum the bag was full. I'm so grateful when mine vacuums, but I can hear the motor on the vacuum when it gets full and irk him making him stop to I can empty it

Yes, its always full and the tube is full and its all plugged up! I am constantly reminding to empty when done and to check before starting. That little bit has kept me from having to tear apart the vacuum for about a year now.

So true. The vacuum is almost always full when I go to use it. I guess it’s the same as when I need to take my wife’s car and the gas gauge is almost always on E. By the way, I iron all my own work clothes every night.

Looked in the back of the dryer vent, clean as a whistle. The light 18" or so at the end of the vent pipe is sunshine coming in through the lint screen opening.
    IMG_20180501_154233539.jpg

Looked in vent grill in front and some coarse dirt in there and a quarter, still pretty clean considering. I vacuumed it out. I didn't get into the blower squirrel cage, but the I could see almost 1/2 and it was pretty clean.

Well going to shelve this for awhile, our house guest is returning tomorrow, and depending on what's on her mind she deals with stress by becoming a bionic cleaning lady firecracker lil get of her way and let her work her magic type lady.

There will probably be a lot of laundry going through it between her washing stuff from thats icky from the evicted tenants at her house, in addition to ours, so I'll ask to not dry monster big loads.
