He will do some kind of stacking, hauling, or whatnot every time he visits, so when he gets older, he knows that when he comes, he'll do some work.

    • Probably could. For now, I stack shoulder season wood in front of the shed, because that will be burned first.

No, I split this. Figured skinny birch would be the easiest for a 4 year old to stack. Splitter boy is still in touch, but I'm not expecting he'll ever turn up.

Adjusted the tie rod that I replaced on the truck Fri. Alignment was so far out that a blind person could see it and truck drove like chit. Drives like it always did since I readjusted.
Loaded the bed for a scrap metal run in the morning. Cleaned the back porch, swept the deck and put the cushions on the deck furniture.
I had loaned the mini steer to the ball association for field maintenance. They brought it back and helped unload it and the attachments.
Started tilling the garden. Got 3 pass done on the front half and 1 pass on the back half. No big hurry on the garden. It is suppose to be dry and in the 70s for the next 3 or 4 days and soil temps are not high enough for planting. I may get some seeds in later in the week.
Drew up a scaled layout to add a mother-in-law suit to the house. Mom is elderly and thinks she will move to assisted living all the time complaining about the cost. Mom has the money, but is tighter than the bark on a tree. Talked to my sisters about it. I may have rattled the family skeleton in the closet , but that is another story left un-posted.
It is trying dealing with an elderly parent.

Yes it is my wife's father is 84 and stubborn he had a heart attack on Thursday and is going in tomorrow for By-Pass surgery. The nurse's keep telling him not to get out of bed he won't listen but then again he is 84. Would like to have everyone keep him in their prayers.

My mom is 96 and is in a nursing home due to a broken leg. It certainly is not easy being a parent to your parent.

    In my prayers.
You can say that again. Mom is 92 and starting to get depressed. I proposed putting the addition 5 years ago after Dad passed. At the time, she said it was to far away and her friends would not come down to visit. Now she only has 2 close friends living and they are both in their 90s.
I'll just have to gather quotes, discuss it with Mom and make a decision. Who knows? As much as I hate to say it, but at 92 you need to praise God when you wake up. She may not even be with us when the construction is completed.

Caffeine with Dad early this morning. Mmmmmm. Mom’s homemade banana bread with a little butter on top.

Then back home to do a few things around the house.

I'm lucky - both parents in their 80's and still of sound mind and fairly sound bodies. Dad still runs a couple of miles a day (weather permitting). Mom still gets out and does a bunch of the wood mulch moving. they are slowing down and hiring people to do things they would have done themselves 5 years ago (mom no longer hand saws fallen tree limbs now).

If I make it as old as they are, I certainly hope I am able bodied!
