Well the end of another week and it was a doozy between the Hellvard BS and my dang shoulder is pushing me to the edge, 2 PT sessions so far and not going so good, not that the PT is bad but the shoulder is the culprit. PT says its a Frozen Shoulder ? wtf I thought to myself but without a choice I am doing the PT and its getting no better actually worse .

So onward I go and not feeling about the path I am on but am limited to what I can do thanks to the insurance protocol. Thought about at a few times of just saying F*ck it walking back to the garage and drive my truck or actually their truck back to the main orifice and punting. Figure it out and survive as I have always done but then re-thought about it and I need the insurance as chitey as it is until i get past this annoyance.

Have a wedding to go to along with a night in town as requested by the Mrs. to celebrate our wedding anniversary, her birthday, and the wedding of course.

    Hope all are well

Hang in there my Friend , sorry to hear about your shoulder . As far as the work BS , I would seriously start looking for alternatives , work stress is not good for ya , I know I've been there . I punted my job of 18 years , and took one for less $$ and benies , but it was so worth it , No stress , No BS , it was scarey , I'm so much happier life is good . Not looking in the review mirror , looking out the windshield moving forward .

Hope you had a Great evening with your Honey .

My mother had frozen shoulder for 2 years. She did PT and they finally kicked her free because she was doing the exercises (or ROM movements) on her own and at least it wasn't getting worse. She said it finally just suddenly reversed itself from no apparent extra effort on her part. I've read that there usually isn't any obvious reason for frozen shoulder and they are unsure if PT actually works since most clear up after a couple of years. I guess a lot of the main goal is not to get worse than it is, then let it sort itself out.

So it is inspection month for my vehicles. My $1,300 2007 For Focus, with 212k miles got thru with about $500 of work for the lower control arm and front sway bar link (I had them do the sway bar even though that wasn't inspection requirement).

The 2004 Ford Explorer with 158k miles on it was a completely different story. first, it threw a code at the end of March. After $500 of work getting the Major EVAP leak taken care of, it started throwing a minor EVAP code. That is a guessing game and almost every guessed at fix involves removing the gas tank. I also had exhaust structure issues / rot (which I knew about because I could hear it). Additionally, the trailer hitch support was rotted - part of the "frame" so had to be fixed., who knew?

So after hearing that it would need at least another $1500 of work (not counting chasing the minor EVAP leak), I decided to cut my losses at the $500 line that they had put in. Counted up my receipts over the 2.5 years I've owned the truck and I've put in 6k of repairs - time to move on.

I had looked at a couple of private sales of used vehicles, but wasn't feeling it. Went last night to a dealership to look at a 2014 Explorer XLT that had 99k miles on it. It's in great shape and we struck a deal that they and I could live with. The two trucks had a face to face conversation and the big red beast seemed to approve my choice and was just as happy to stay there to start its next adventure in life going to auction. It will make a great vehicle for someone who can do the work needed themselves since the engine, transmission and most of the body are in great shape.

This is the new(ish) vehicle gracing the tent garage as of 8:15 last night. Way too many bells and whistles that I have no need of, but just about any newer vehicle is like that now days. Hey, it has a Manual mode to compliment the automatic transmission so that will be awesome next winter!

WOW!!! That's a LOT in repairs.

Congrats on the "new" vehicle......I think you'll be very happy with the upgrade. I drive a LOT of them at work ( I drive in the Ford lane at the auction), and even though I'm not really a Ford guy, the newer design Explorer is a nice vehicle.

    Enjoy!!

    Yess...the back thing sucks.

The other night I woke up and remembered that I had left a $$$$$ spendy customers package in the car, so decided to get up and bring it in.

Dark out (2 am) small stick at the top of the stairs... slipped and BUTT SURFED to the bottom.

Don't think I broke my tail bone, but really sore.

Black and blue butt and forearms.

    Arrrrrrgh :(

The salt really fouls the rigs up for sure.

The idiots here in Oregon are trying hard to use salt, but thankfully we get little weather locally that justifies the use.

We have a a 1995 Suburban that is still sporting factory paint on the entire frame and zero rust.

I went to a town hall meeting on the use of the salt back a year ago and bitched about the use of salt.

    I hate studded tires too.

Idiots put them on in November and run them on wet pavement all winter.
The studs just inhale the roads.

We have seen one major local hwy that was repaved less than 2 years go that is now rutted terribly by the stud tire usage

Such a waste of tax $$$$

I think it has a hitch receiver built in - pretty sure the guy said that. They've got a cover over it so I'll have to look and see.

I just got in from familiarizing myself with all, er - some, the electronics and doodads. Got the radio stations preset to my tastes, got the steering wheel and seats where I like them, turning down the illumination of the dash gizmos (why do they set them to super bright - it was blinding me last night as I was driving home - grr) etc. I was most of the way home last night before I figured out I had a moon roof - cool!. So a little earlier today I was going thru the manual to find out how to make the cover slide closed and found that it opens too . And then I got another surprise when I found it has a sunroof for the back seat too. too funny - most people would be looking for all the bells and whistles. I just want something that gets me to and from, can haul a bit of stuff, and is reliable without too many repair bills. Although I wasn't looking for them, I think I will like the moon roof and the push button tail gate (both up and down).

Yes, I'm a little simple when it comes to all the chit that comes in cars these days since I've usually gone with strictly utilitarian vehicles. Heck, if I'd known it had all this stuff in it I wouldn't have pushed them so hard on the price (I stood up and got my jacket on at one point). Anyway, here are a couple of pics of simple delights - front seat moon roof ope, then the back seet sun roof:

What is "manual mode" on an automatic transmission?
