    Here’s a nice load of white oak from almost exactly a year ago. Borrowed a buddy’s trailer because I think mine was still loaded. His tires didn’t like this load much. Luckily it was close by! IMG_5232.JPG IMG_5233.JPG

    I won’t argue! I knew it was oak, but when I split it I knew it wasn’t red oak. So I called it white oak. I definitely don’t have all my species down yet. Thanks for your input. There is always more to learn.

    This is the forester in me coming out but technically it is "red oak", all oaks are either red or white. All red oaks have bristle tips on their leave tips, some they just fall off and not noticeable, but at some time or one one form of the leaf either juvinile, shade or sun you will notice them, a hard one to notice is water oak, some think it's always rounded.

    All white oaks have tyloses, this is why there uses for barrels, makes them waterproof ;-)
