Here’s a nice load of white oak from almost exactly a year ago. Borrowed a buddy’s trailer because I think mine was still loaded. His tires didn’t like this load much. Luckily it was close by! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hmmmm.....just going on bark appearance, I’d say either Pin or Willow Oak....? Real nice score there, either way
I won’t argue! I knew it was oak, but when I split it I knew it wasn’t red oak. So I called it white oak. I definitely don’t have all my species down yet. Thanks for your input. There is always more to learn. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So, you know the oak family has them sweet looking medullary rays, right? Kinda like spokes on a bike wheel? I like them.
From a cut end? I know an oak leaf and I know the inner split face! Beyond that is new learning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This is the forester in me coming out but technically it is "red oak", all oaks are either red or white. All red oaks have bristle tips on their leave tips, some they just fall off and not noticeable, but at some time or one one form of the leaf either juvinile, shade or sun you will notice them, a hard one to notice is water oak, some think it's always rounded. All white oaks have tyloses, this is why there uses for barrels, makes them waterproof ;-)
Thank goodness for the Internet (not positive these words would have been in traditional college dictionary; which I do still own after 20 years). You guys are giving me words that I have to look up! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Mechanical Designer.... But I was a test tech for several years here, and that was all voltage and some current.
