I was unloading wood today and trying to teach my kids to be safe about it. I was telling them to stay out of the way and not to climb on the stack etc... I was letting them throw of small pieces when it hit me that I needed to tell them to be careful about watching where they were throwing pieces. that's when it really hit me a piece of wood hit me right in the back of the head. no stitches or anything needed that I know of. just some blood and a headache. they learned a good lesson at my expense. chit happens. will post a pic if anyone really wants to see it.
See the crooked one? My brother got me with a split when we were unloading George the truck back when I was in third grade.
When I was a kid we were unloading a truck full of trash at the dump, I got a little carried away and, I got my dad right in the forehead with a Karo syrup bottle nearly knocked him out and he had a really big knot on his head
I used to always help my dad load wood into the basement when i was a kid. He always said "don't get behind me when i'm tossing wood into the pile". Yea of course i didn't listen and one time *Whack!* I took one right in the back of the head. I learned real quick that dad wasn't lyin!
For only being 5 he rocked me pretty good. I don't know how big the piece was but I'm glad I had a hat on. I was good they did not even learn any new words. He felt horrible about it so of course then I felt bad for him.
Did the wood split? Thats what you call a splitting headache..... no, glad your ok. Im sure it won't happen again. Lesson learned..
I had to tell her what happened as she was looking at it to see how bad it was. You know how the head is bleeds like crazy.
Of course this one prolly doesn't count with Mom so much, cause the kids weren't in "harm's way"… you were, and, you already "paid for it" Might even be able to milk it for a while… Next time chuckin wood… maybe try your hard hat…
