No show today. If he doesn't show tomorrow, I'm moving the pile of rounds off the front lawn into the backyard. Warner, thanks for the offer. I think it's a situation where the kid says yes to every job, then decides later if he wants to do it or not.
That's smaht. Leaving them on the front might cause someone to think it's up for grabs. Sent from my SM-T280 using Tapatalk
If the kid doesn't show up when he says he would and did not call, I would not give him the job at all now even if he shows up. I'd simply tell him to go home. That would hurt, but in the long run it would be a lesson he would not forget and it would do wonders for him.
Yep. No way id pay him after you had to hustle to get it all cut...and then he no call no shows. Take that money, and put it towards purchasing one And then you depend on nobody
Holy crap you've got a memory! They were actually guys that work as carpenters for a business. And that happened back in 99!! I'll have to remind her about it! Meanwhile, go with Backwoods Savage advice.....
You're right, I should just buy one... that will be a whole 'nother thread! For now, I got everything off the front lawn, and stacked in the back yard. I'm not going to stress out about it. Making firewood and stress don't mix!
Definitely need to get one! It makes it much easier to keep ahead too. I now split and stack everything as it comes into the yard. With how much you can carry, it wouldn't take much time to cut and split it when you come home.
Absolutely. Buy your splitter and it will pay for itself really quickly. If you decide to sell the splitter you'd be money ahead after 3 loads like that split.
My 40 yr old didier splitter has zero limitations and it's probably no more than a 15 ton splitter. I split a lot of elm and hickory with it.
I bought the 25 ton County Line from Tractor Supply. I have yet to find a limitation. I run it at around 3/4 throttle and it will sometimes take a little to get through a gnarly round, but never.stalled the ram. Granted ive.only split oak and ash with it so far. I've split about 2.5 cords with it so far, and only filled the tank twice.
Take a drive to baahhh hahhbahhhh! Log Splitter This is what I have. You can put a prrdpred motor on it for $100 like I did and get a big power upgrade. I see this one had a much newer engine than it came with. The original 5 hp Briggs lasted , until u roached it last winter. It was old and times but the simple motor swap made it better than new, no other work needed. Yeah, it's low, and not super fast, but built well and simple.
You realize that Bah Habbah is almost 5 hours from us, right? Was up there last summer for our 5 year anniversary. Stayed in an old "cottage" most people refer to them as mansions these days.
Yeah, that's why I posted closer ones. But, that Didier splitter will do nothing but split and not complain.
I agree the Didier splitter would work for you. The one major draw back for me is how low to the ground they are, and that it can’t split vertically. Something to think about.
Thanks guys. I probably won't go the Craigslist route because I don't have a trailer hitch. But 25 tons sounds awesome! My husband would begrudge the garage space, but if I sacrificed something else he'd come around, and adopt it as one of his own. You should see the love he gives the chainsaw. He doesn't enjoy physical labor like I do, but he likes his machines. Here he is assembling a yard wagon last Sunday, with my grandson watching.
I agree Dennis with all but that last part, only b/c these days some young people turn around and do stoopid stuff after being set “straight”.... lack of parenting and all, plus the continuing onslaught of negative social network interactions.
