Just trying to prove I am not the only one on the planet to my wife. She can't understand that there is good reason for me saving misfit tools. These are the ones i picked up cheap or free and don't hurt so bad when I chop, heat and bend, cut ends off of, or grind down. Am i the only one? What have you misfitted?
Yes I am right there with you Greenstick. One of my favourites I made 14 years ago. At the time I was working on a machine that predominantly had 13mm and 17mm, so I took a 13 and a 17mm combination wrench and cut the open end of both then welded the box wrench together so I only had to carry one tool in my pocket and could do most jobs with it. I don't need that tool anymore as I have a different job but I will always keep it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes you got to have them.. Ones for kids to learn how to fix stuff and leave your good stuff alone!!!
I bought a small kit for me inside the house (hot pink for Breast Cancer Awareness). It's both comical and cute when I see WWW using one of them.
I have made quite a few over the years, especially when I was in the aircraft field. I always have "odd" wrenches and screwdrivers around awaiting the fate of the torch or grinder.
I look particularly studly when using Mama Bear's flowered handle tools while fixing the granddaughters baby cribs and toy vacuums!
All my Snap On screwdrivers from my aircraft days are neon orange for the same reason. I could spot them easily.
A buddy of mine always teased me for carrying a 4" crescent wrench (ground out to 9/16) in my pocket...EVERY day... Yes, wedding day, black tux, 4" crescent in my pocket. Well one day we were in his semi-truck with a dump trailer and it broke down. Antifreeze and steam all through the cab and running out the doors as we bailed out...Out came the wrench. And we were back on the road in short order. He swore he'd never make fun of it again Coming home from Dennis I blew a lower radiator hose. Made a hose removal tool out of a can opener. I'll get a pick of it when I get home.
Ahhh the lower radiator hose, the most neglected part on ANY vehicle! I only bought one new hose when I built my Bronco, and that was it. If you've ever seen an OBS ford Powerstroke lower hose, you would know it's not cheap either!
This lower rad hose was replaced about 2 years ago (and still had the tag on it.) Seems the mechanic failed to trim the hose so it wouldn't rub on the inner fender well/tranny lines. It had a dent rubbed into it.
