Getting through. The snow is to deep for the tractor through one area so I walked to the section I wanted to cut. Pole saw is working nice. There is still over 14" of snow through here, then the ice layer, then another 5-7 under that. Won't be long now though. Making some headway.

All cleaned and a nice fire is burning in it. Time to relax.

Nope. It is just a short walk, so I left the tractor back where the snow was not as deep. I got that section all cleared except for the stuff stuck in the snow and ice. Busted my ars for about 5 hours today. Time to take a break. Then down to camp to clean the pellet stove and fire it back up. Need to have it back up and running for this last real cold we will have tonight. Close to 0° they say.

After I posted no wind, sure enough it started to move in. Gradually got a little stronger. Still was able to get a bunch done in the woods though. Going to be a cold wind tonight.

Yep… it's starting to blow here now too. They're talking about Eastport Maine area to get maybe 18" of snow in blizzard conditions… :hair:

Just took advantage of great lighting and shot a little footage out at the stacks.

It will be used in my march and April what you should be doing videos, both of which are in various stages of production. In fact, I just finished my first segment of the march video. Tomorrow I hope to finish the third segment and the last two cut scenes. That will leave only the biggest segment (which we have to reshoot a couple scenes for) and the credits to be done this weekend.

Cold again today but should be a good day for working in the woods. We had some melt a while back and the cold since then has made the snow hard enough I can walk on top of it in most areas. Good for trimming the trees. Time to hit another section of the trail today and hopefully I can have all of the trimming done before the warm weather hits. :saw:

Now that this windstorm has passed it will be nice to be outside today. I'm still looking to split and move 2 cords today. Fingers crossed

I decided to stop skidding logs out of the woods now that the warm weather is coming. I have a large pile of logs to cut up, that will probably take a few days. Soon Mrs Straw will have to help me split it all, she can man the lever!:axe:

I'm not sure I could ever do the splitter as a 2 person operation. I like my fingers too much, no offense to Mrs. Straw :)

Your concerns are valid, my father got my mother's finger a few years back . I trust my wife though, she's more cautious than I am, but we will have to be careful. Thanks for the reminder

    Log Splitter - $350 (Argyle)
I have a log splitter for sale. It is a tractor supply model and it is good working order. Only a few years old. 518

I think the cold, or whatever it is, has mostly left my chest. Still have my ears stuff and slight nasal pressure, but I'm feeling pretty good today.

    Glad your feeling better Griz.

Ya, that would be a hell of a deal on the splitter if it was on good working order. I have thought of buying a new one of those at TSC. $999
