Might be in the market for a new splitter

The wedge is tearing free on old reliable power horse dual splitter. First on the out bound(higher force) stroke then a little later the retract stroke started to bend.

The entire box within a box will have to be disassembled to properly weld repair= PITA I'm wondering if the extra umph of the new predator engine on some already strained welds had something to do with it but the relief valve is unchanged.

I'm debating about selling as is with the new motor and getting a horizontal/vertical machine, or buy a new machine and fix this one then let it go.

On Craiglist used splitters needing work bring the same price as a new one...which sounds good, until you realize that if it didn't need work, it would be worth more than a new one... :picard:
I am cheap, and always over schedule myself...so I would fix it...

I say take a few hours time and fix it. If you get a vertical horizontal you will be dissatisfied with the speed after using that splitter.

I don't think you'd be disappointed with the speed of a new one but I would definitely attempt a fix on that one before buying.

The good news is chippers seem to be less expensive than they used to be and there are some good designs to choose from.

Here are a couple more pictures of the reinforcement gussets that will need ground out and re welded. They were likely welded before the two halves of the inner beam were welded together.

Yeah, that doesn't look good at all. There's gotta be a way to fix it though, no?

Oh yeah, I'm sure it can be fixed...just a matter of how much time and trouble it will be. I would say that's gonna hafta be fixed before sale...very few people are going to be willing to take that on...at least unless they can get it for $50...

Yep still on sale through tomorrow.
Time to go to back standing upright, don't know how anyone could do this from a milk crate .
Earned its stripes in the crotch that my woodpile buddies are surrounding.
