It was 78 degrees the last two days... :) So I worked on a bunch of outside projects on Thursday and Friday nights (still have a day job!) and wood hoarding was one of them. I have been itching to get cutting.

Last month I had this red oak blow over pretty deep in the woods. It's roughly 16" at the base. I have the whole trunk cut up, but still need to do the top. Hauled, split and stacked a couple Gator loads. I still have a lot more left to haul up and split, but it's a start. I cut the rounds to about 19" long or so. That red oak sure smells after you get it split and stacked...

Also finished reloading my under cover stacks for burning next year.

Thought you guys and gals would like to see a few pics... Emma the pooch was my helper.

Thanks Shawn, this March and April have been horrible! We had these two days that hit 77 and 78 degrees and on Monday they say we might have snow :picard: It was sure nice being outside cutting wood and doing other stuff...

Thanks for the comments on the woods. Not much scrub and pretty mature hardwoods with most trees somewhere between 50 - 80 years old. Both my direct neighbors just select cut their woods which were basically the same as mine. I'm not cutting any down though... someone will have some big white oaks someday...

Nice oak did some weed eating and mowing today......about 3 hours worth, then to the wood yard to stack some oak split and covered last month and to split some rounds also. Did about half a cord then the rain started so back to the workshop to sharpen saws and garden hoes. Weather was 83 yesterday and today!!! Hope you guys get some pretty weather soon.

Good job, Fan. I hauled 2 big loads home today of chunks that I had cut about 3 weeks ago but couldn't get in then with the mud. If I think about it I will snap a picture of the ever growing pile to be split.

That downed oak is really nice, especially with part of it up off the ground which makes for much easier cutting. Fantastic firewood too.

Lucky you to get 2 days of warm. We felt good that we had a few hours of it before it clouded over and the temperatures began to fall. The next day was over 30 degrees colder. The following day we started getting snow....again.

It was like summer, but only for two days... Now it's gone...forecast is horrible again.

Warm weather and cutting that nice oak was just what I needed....

Sweet splits man, those things just look like you’re planking boards from rounds in the new stack.

Nice pics LP! I've got my own pile of rounds to keep me occupied for a while...

You have had a good winter/spring collecting wood... After this spring, you may need a little extra wood to get caught up again... Get it while you can....

Finished cutting up the red oak tree today... Hauled it out, split and all stacked up. :) Also got a bunch of yard work done so I'm beat...

Normally I don't measure my stacks, but did this time to see how much that tree yielded.

Stack was 9 feet long and 4 feet high and cut to about 19. - 20" long, so about .45 of a cord. split a few extra large for over nighters...

Haha never noticed your breakfast beer image on your info bar. Only way phone users or at least myself can see it is if we turn it sideways.
