Tractor supply, foot pedal to dump thennit swivels to dump in any direction. It will surely get a good test on my property.
Nice but it’s got the wrong name on it. I’m a Honda man myself. Still have a fourtrax 4x4 300 1988 model( I think that’s the first year they made it)and it runs like a new one.
I didn't mean to confuse anyone. I have no experience with Ohio Steel. Just poly beds and firewood. I didn't mention the brand in my comment above (just my link), only wanted the OP to know the poly beds may not take as much abuse from hauling firewood.
The advice you gave is well warranted, one should be made aware of problems that may arise. I was fairly sure it was an Ohio steel brand in the initial pic. He should be quite happy with the combo.
Woodwhore you are going to be wondering how you ever got along without that machine! May it serve you well. You mentioned the power steering. I remember when they came out with that for atv and thought it was foolish. Well, it is unless you do much backing up. In our case, I back up the trailer a lot in the woods and that is where it is needed. I tend to sit sideways on the seat when backing up so have only one hand on the handlebars. Power steering makes this a breeze; otherwise, I don't really see a need for it. Oh, it does helps some too when plowing snow but I don't see a winch on yours so you probably won't be plowing snow.
I bought one of the first/early model of plastic wheel barrow and after tossing firewood in it once in cold weather and being rendered useless I'm not inclined to be purchasing another one or anything similar without lots and lots of positive reviews of abusive use ever again.
I'd say it's totally dependant on the chassis ( suspension geometry, weight, how "locked" the front axles are, etc). I've driven a 2wd bayou 220 vs a all time locked full 4wd bayou 300 like mine back to back. The rwd only 220 bayou had supper light steering. The "locked" front end of the 300c has a noticably heavier steering feel. The only major difference between those 2 ATVs is the 4wd. Then going from my bayou to my Polaris sportsman 500ho, throw the sportsman in 2wd, and steering is light. As in absolutely zero need for power steering. Put it in 4wd, and yeah, there's times you can feel more weight to the steering. That ATV is over 700 lbs. The bayou 300 is 300 lbs.
While I agree with what your saying, this is my terrain and the reason power steering is preferred. Main trial through my cutting area. One of our favorite trails With power steering. You don't get the bars ripped out of your hands
Wonderful new wheeler. Should be a lot of fun, and, helpful. That little plastic cart- the wheeler can handle much more, and I'd personally be frustrated by all the additional loads you'll need to make. Maybe keep your eyes open for a used steel garden trailer. I was given one by my folks, found another being thrown out. Use both as mini wood sheds right outside the door all winter.
We owned a couple of Outlanders in the early 2000’s and really loved them. They both had over 5k on them mostly from trail riding and never had a lick of trouble with either. Very rough trails were the only place I ever wished for power steering, and my wife was the same. And I mean rough. It only happened a couple times that I recall. Those were very well built machines and I’m sure they’v only gotten better.
I have a buddy that does the same thing. He has double doors into his walk out basement so he parks his carts inside
Yeah, for your terrain, yeah. I'd say PS is a must. While we have some areas like that, it's typically smoother than that.
If we get a new machine, the wife wants power steering. I'm not sold on it. I do agree that rough terrain can be tough on the steering, but in my opinion, pretty much walking the machine through the woods.. no issues. Running it harder, I could see where steer damping would be beneficial, I just don't run ours hard enough for it be an issue.
If just steering dampening is needed, I'm sure a simple steering damper can be added like they can to sport bikes. That way an easy retrofit could be added to any atv. I see that guys do add steering dampers to sport quads, presumably for racing purposes. That won't do anything to make steering effort less though.
I will add a winch and maybe a bucket someday, no need for a plow i just got a new Ariens 28 deluxe with the SHO motor this thing is a total badass.
I was backing the trailer up today, i dont see a need for power steering, it goes just fine but im sure its a great thing to have but i look at it as something else to break and i think it was like $700 plus more
I took a storm damaged birch down up on the RR bed, the RR bed is my property line and i can help maintain it better now with the new setup. I added a cargo tray for tools, saws or wood. Just got done painting it, ill post some pics tomorrow
