We're set for the rest of the clearing after spending time with some family, I spent today cleaning and sharpening a bunch of different sized chains with the biggest being a 28 inch. I bought a gallon of WD-40 Specialist Fluid/Cleaner and Degreaser to soak the chains in, it works great. I soaked a chain for three days and this stuff won't change the color of the chain like Simple Green will if the chain is left in it for a much shorter time. It looks like we have over an inch of rain coming in on Tuesday and Wednesday so hopefully that will get more frost out of the ground. Tomorrow we'll look to fell seven trees before I do any limbing.
There's nothing big tomorrow but anything with a black next to the tree will come down tomorrow along with the smaller trees. This is the WD-40 I bought for cleaning the chains before sharpening.
We took down five trees today, four pine and one cherry. In the second picture there are three pine together and one out near the trail, they'll be coming down tomorrow.
Nice job! Did similar here, used the bota this morning before the grounds thawed since i had to cross the yard.
The area the garage will go is pretty much cleared but we want a certain amount of trees that could hit the garage to the east and west down too. After that is done, I'll start digging out the stumps.
Three more pine trees came down today with two moved over to the log pile, attached are some pictures of moving some pine, pine round dump and the trees.
We'll be set for about three years (four with what I stacked last year) so hopefully once the garage clearing, stump removal and once the garage build is done then I can get some hardwood. If we get hit with wind gust up to 60 mph tomorrow, that should put something down on both lots.
After talking with the code enforcement officer before we started the clearing, we finally went down with all the info which allowed us to get the building permit today. We also decided to get a few things in town today so we can start the last leg of the clearing tomorrow, hopefully by the end of next week we'll have the majority of the trees down.
Sounds like a good plan. Weather should turn soon, builders will be slammed, glad your almost all set.
I'm thinking the middle of next week we'll put the backhoe on, the frost is coming out of the ground up here but not in the area the garage is going. The builder was getting his spring work lined up about the time we gave him the go ahead so time wise we hit it just right. If he starts at the beginning of May, we're hoping it's done by the end of that month.
I limbed up the pine in pic 1280 and started to haul the branches out, four loads with only one shown. I then had to start cleaning up all the dead smaller branches so I could get the pine out in log form for firewood and one we might mill. It looks like we might get 3 inches of snow before the rain starts later on. I was soaked by about 3:15 so I called it a day but will start the cleanup tomorrow morning along with lowering some stumps so we can drop more pine. I'm hoping by next Sunday the majority of the trees we want down.....rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Nope, it didn't take long at all but they say we have rain coming in so that should get rid of it. Hopefully we get the rain so it gets rid of the snow, I have some stump lowering I'll be doing tomorrow so I can get the tractor deeper in the woods in the area I'm working.
That limbing of white pine is enough to make you think twice about felling another! I think we have another 12 - 15 white pine we want down before the build starts.
