TSC must change suppliers every few years. They are completely different than last years and the one I have thats three or four years old... The only time I have seen them any cheaper was Black Friday
I bought the last splitter they had at my local store. I need mama to come home so I can steal her SUV and go get it. I have a 300lb counterweight shoved into my receiver hitch.
I picked mine up this morning. Then I went to go pick up this load of red oak. I decided that my new plan is to split right out of the truck whenever possible. It worked well rolling the logs to the tailgate then lifting them onto the splitter. DEFINITELY need to get the add on table! I forgot to get it this morning. The pile is temporary, too excited to try it out to think that I should prepare for the one year seasoning spot.
Weirdest feeling towing that cute lil thing. I spent 4-5 years towing the biggest trucks on the road, so knowing I had something behind me that I couldn't see unless I was turning was a total mind F for me
Turn the splitter around, 180 degrees, and place closer to the end-gate. That way you can use that as your table. Works gooder for me and can still get in the truck as half the end is open.
The wife drug me to a store next to a TSC tonight...guess where I went. This splitter is $779 here. Looks well built...the only thing I noticed was the oil tank looks very small to me...might run hot if run hard and long in hot weather.
Thats a good looking unit, Mwalsh9152 ! Did they use box tube for the tongue? I hope, cause the tongues are way to flimsy on the model I have. It's just a "c" shaped piece of thin sheet metal.
Couldn't tell ya. I'll have to take a look. Honestly though, I don't foresee this thing ever being on the road again unless I move. It would be far easier to just bring the maul with me to break things into manageable pieces, then finish at home.
Once I plugged in my zip code, $779 is what I saw too. Even though the closest tsc is a ways away. If I was needing a splitter, that would be worth the drive. The hydro reservoir on our Didier is tiny. Like a gallon and a half tops. It gets very hot, even in not hot temps outside. It hasn't been an issue, and that splitter is 40 yrs old.
