This time it has to go fellas !! I figure if Carbine can get rid of a saw he wants to keep..so can I PLUS........Im saving up for a power extendable pole saw ....most likely and Echo So this saw is very nice ! Ran it a few times..and it cuts awesome . About 130 Psi compression when I checked it a while back . Has a brand new Oregon Pro-Lite 18 inch bar...and new chain as well . New Oil pump gear , fuel line and filter , fuel tank vent setup and spark plug . This is all clean..and ready for years of more cutting Im only asking $230...and that includes shipping in the lower 48 . Thanks guys !
Good idea LOL !!!! Like your saw too man . I think your deal is the better one !! Its tough....I really like the saw.....but it just sits on the shelf
That's the way most of mine do. Run most of them once in a while, but when I go to the woods I grab the 550. If I am into bigger stuff it is the xpw. If I am picking up tree service wood (typically real big stuff) I will grab the 064.
18 inch bar. Im running .325 on it now. New clutch drum and sprocket. Also can switch back to 3/8 ..... Still have the stuff !
Thank you sir !! Hey.....if it matters...I talked to Randy (Mastermind) about getting this saw "worked" on . He said he could put some more zip into it..without converting it to a 262xp....just sayin
I want to. That's a great price. Every time a nice saw comes up here, I have one or two lined up. I have a new Stihl I pick up Thurs or Fri and a nice 254xp the week after
Did I mention that it has new gas and oil caps ....and a NOS clutch cover and brake ? Any trades/cash ideas ? I like the 50cc and down range . Been really getting into the smaller stuff..like top handles and Stihl 170/180 and stuff like that . Anything light and handy !
Never was a 257xp . There was a 357xp though . The 357 is actually a hot rod compared to the 257 . The 257 was rated at like 3.7 or 3.8 h.p. With a mild powerband . The 357xp was rated at 4.3 hp I believe ...and it had the higher RPM as well . Kind of like comparing the new Husky 555 to the 562xp !
I am gonna say that parts dont interchange between the two . The 257 shares parts with the 261 and 262xp . And fewer parts with the 254xp . But all 4 are on the same chassis . Someone on here will know if a 357xp interchanges with anything Im sure !! The brochure advertised weight for the 257 empty PHO is...12.3 lbs . And the 357xp is..12.1 lbs .
257 is open port...... 357XP is closed port (and a lot newer). It was the 254,257,261 and 262XP in the technical "family". The 254 was on a slightly smaller platform however.. The 257 was the only open port in the family which gave it a "landowner"- milder powerband (as Fuzz stated). My research does indicate a 262 top end will fit on the 257.......but it would need a carb change and some other odds and ends I replaced the fuel lines etc. on a neighbor's 257 last year. It was a nice solidly built saw, which seemed perfect for running an 18" bar for firewood......which the owner has been doing with it since the early 90's. Bottom line is this is a very nice example of a fine Husky chainsaw. Surprised it's still available.
So its basically a 254xp with a little less "snap". With the new covers (I know they were at least $30 a piece). This is a heck of a deal. And again, I already and committed to 2 saws in 2 weeks. I really wish I could get this one to. I am digging the slightly older Husq series saws.
