What's up today (bullchiting) thread.

I went to sleep at midnight and was up before 6am. If only turkies slept in

 

Slept in this morning and seeing as it was raining, had breakfast instead of going for a walk. It is suppose to be showers off and on all morning so maybe we can fit a walk in between showers. Chores to do and catching up on things.

 

Got a few odds and ends taken care of around the house and then made time to take the whole family up to visit my parents after lunch. My big sister and her husband are home for a few days from the Seattle, WA area and we all spent some time visiting with them. Good times. We will stop up and have breakfast with them tomorrow morning before they start their trip home.

We came home and I just finished bringing in some more firewood. About 1/2 face cord of Maple. Looks like our temperatures over the next three weeks here will require firewood heat. I have enough seasoned firewood to get us through April and maybe the first week of May. Then it will be time to switch over to the bubbling goo and be done with wood heat until October.

 

Had a good safe drive under great highway conditions today. Traffic was light and I made it home with plenty of time to spare before Good Friday services!

Nothing but relaxing left to do now.

 

Just so's ya know...... the bears are out.
Helps explain Duke going nuts when he get's a whiff of "something" after dark. Duke is a smart dawg, he knows what's up.

 

Cougars are still out here too.



It's nice the DNR finally said that this was a cougar. Whew. I thought it was a chupacabra.

 

My part of the state doesn't have bears. That would be a creepy thing to worry about walking around in the dark out there.

He's fatter now, put on a good 15lbs. since we got him. But he still has that same goofy look ( but..... he's always thinking, plotting, scheming.)
Good thing Earl is here. Earl is a dog. He's a dumbazz dog, but a great distraction for Duke. I luv Earl, really good pup. Plus,....

Trying to set up an appointment to have some cables replaced on my dock. They're getting stiff, rusty, and I see some strands that have broken.

The dock has a boat lift attached to it on one side of the deep end which also serves as support legs. The rest of the dock has support legs where needed. It is 5' wide with wood decking sections (5X5) that are removable. This allows the frame (skeleton) of the dock to be raised out of the lake for the winter season.

Before you raise the dock frame into the air, you have to make sure the boast lift is secure and tight to the dock frame to eliminate any extra movement and not rely on the attaching points of the dock to the boat lift for strength. This is accomplished by a cable and turn-buckle. There is also a cable stored under the decking (exposed) during the summer months that is used to raise the dock. These are the cables that will be replaced.

This is the time of year that the dock can be lowered onto the ice and make replacing the cables a whole lot easier.

I hope to get the scheduling call today or tomorrow.
