Low 20's forecasted at night for the next few days with a high of 35 degrees one day and an inch of snow forecasted for Tuesday........blah........ I am just over winter this year :headbang:
We will be having soccer practice in the snow with winter coats on this week. Can't say I really remember having this much of an issue with soccer practices on normal years.

2-4" of snow for us on Tuesday, also. Highs in the 30s, lows in the teens for the next four days. TWENTY degrees below normal seasonal temps.

So sick of this winter. but mostly so sick of the ice. Can't go much of anyplace without risking falling down. Yes just sick of it all. I think it is time for one of those light boxes. I want to be able to get out again if only to sit and watch the birds. Maybe have a fire in the pit. [IMG]

From an old (1997) episode of Prarie Home Companion:

Okay. Listen. It's March, Nancy. It feels like psychosis, but actually it's just March. We're halfway through it, Nancy, and we can make it the rest of the way. Nobody hates you, your life isn't in the toilet, it's simply sensory deprivation, Nancy. We've been living in a deep freeze. We're crazy as rats in a coffee can. But we're all crazy, okay? So it's going to get better. Really, it is. Trust me on this. Okay?

Woke up to 15°F :mad:I should have loaded the stove alittle more last night, since minimal coals were left and the house was getting nippy. Won't be long I hope. Went through a lot of wood this year, but being on a 3 year plan helps. I'm planning on really cutting a lot this spring. May have a repeat next year.

I didn't load the stove for -11F last night. It's just habit and I can't seem to force myself to load like it is January.

I've been burning wood from my ugly/shorts pile since its been milder lately. Last night I dug through the pile for some bigger pieces and lo and behold I found about 20 nice big pieces of locust. Forgot all about it since I stacked it about 3 years ago, burned nice and long, I just reloaded from last night locust load and it was still going pretty strong. I have one more good load for tonight and hopefully that's it for the frigid weather, I'm ready for golf.

8'F degrees here in north central Mass this morning. We may miss the snow tomorrow, but my Mass brethren RayBonz may see up to a foot at his house.. all depends on how the wind blows.

I'm into next years wood by a little bit, but not too much. Guessing we'll burn another cord before we call it quits for shoulder season, which will take us into end of April most likely.

The Fireview I was lucky enough to get as a refurb worked out really well for me. I pretty much stopped burning in the downstairs (family room/laundry room converted basement) and just kept the Fv burning all day everyday 24X7. She worked perfect for my fairly tight ~1600 sq ft cape style home, here on the NH border.

Pretty soon I need to stop feeding the birdies because Yogi will come, and I don't like meeting him out by the woodpile at 10:00 PM at night like I did last year. We scared the living chit out of each other!! :bug:

luckily he was more aware and when I opened the rear walk-in basement door to fetch the wood, he just started crashing through the underbrush.. so we didn't go eyeball to eyeball..and I'm damm glad he didn't want to have an argument, because I don't think I would have won. o_O

We had bears most any time at the radar site in MN. They were known to walk right into your home if you neglected to keeps you doors closed and latched. Too many of them to be able to do anything effective about them. Had them but a foot away from my glass windows. They were always after food. Namely the trash.

Just restocked the hearth with three wagon loads of splits and here is all that's left of my 5 cords for this year.
