28F outside, 68F inside. Burning some red pine inside, and some red maple outside. Working on a 60 gallon sap run today. Cooked down 30 on Thursday which will get added to this batch too; should finish out to a little over 2 gallons of syrup.
Another beautiful sunny day here. It is still hard to believe how many sunny days we've had yet the temperature has not rose much at all. Stays in the 30's. Should be well into the 50's with this much sunshine and maybe even a few days in the 60's. That would really be nice.
Winter wonderland today! Sitting at -4 C or 26 F, and throw a 20 mph wind on top, with snow. About 8" has fallen since 630 AM (more than they called for) snowfall warnings and poor visibility/travel not advised. Poplar chugging along in the stove, but it's not really a cold day. Ugly though.
Finally above freezing, snows a melting sun has been melting it with below freezing temps. Ash and popular today
I think between the snow falling on melted ground and the strong sun angle, we've got a good chance to see grass here this time next week. Hope you're in the same boat, CBVT.
44f I burned 42,000 lbs oak slabs and now burning only wet oak left ..oooo and made some mountains this winter. Heat550 Sent from my LG-H900 using Tapatalk
Southern side yep where I snowblowed paths.. Otherwise 1 to 2 feet deep in field and double that in woods and drifts..
The Copper Basin , being roughly the size of the state of Ohio can have very different temps depending on where in the basin someone is. Being separated from the Tok/Tanana river drainage " where Rope is" we get generally warmer weather in the winter but at times we r cooler in the winter and cooler in the spring and summer as well
So this puts us at 4 cases bottled, which is about 6 gallons. There’s a couple more pints in the fridge and we’ve given some to all my family and the neighbors as well. Grand total probably around 7 gallons total so far.
We have had up and down weather over the last while. Some very nice sunny days but also some stormy days with heavy snow and bad driving. The first two were on a nice walk on Friday. It got to just above freezing but the wind was howling. The last two were taken yesterday in my back yard. It snowed real hard giving us about 8 inches. Today was on and off snow squalls giving us a few inches. Pine in the stove today and coals now in the stove waiting for a load of larch.
