I hate losing a score, but in this case I don't think the wood was stolen from you in the true sense. Miscommunication from family members led to 2 parties being offered the same wood - and with so much time passing between what you took early and when you could make it back, those other family members may have assumed you either took all you wanted or gave up - or they had no idea you were ever offered the wood. Around here, downed wood goes FAST - if I get permission to cut, I'm back with my saw immediately and all wood is hauled back as soon as the rounds are bucked - if I became ill or had to wait a long time to return, I'd assume that wood would be gone and expect the worst while hoping for the best. Cheers!
And just when you thought this horse was dead, it seems to be a little alive once again! The people whose yard it was in got tired of looking at it and gave it away to someone who grabbed it right away. He/She who hesitates is lost!
I've gotten into a predicament myself with someone I thought was a friend who needed help with a bunch of tree work last year. Spent a couple of my Saturdays lending a hand and equipment, the only payment I wanted was the wood since he had zero use for it. The homeowner stacked the rounds in the absolute worst area to access of the property due to constant flooding. Every time I contact them it's either A - too flooded OR B - "I don't have time to deal with it" ...Now it's to the point where I could care less about the wood, have fun with that rotting mess, and don't ever ask me for another favor ever again. Not that this person has really made any effort to talk or hang out since then. So much for helping a "friend." Long story short, most people who have zero use or value for firewood and regard it as trash suck, and could care less what it means to someone else.
I have decided to just ignore you but when you make false statements I am not going to let it go. Evidently you didn't read anything I posted or if you did you certainly did not comprehend what you were reading. The people that owned the wood did not get tired of looking at it; it was in a field and the owner said to get it when we were able to get back to it. All of that was posted but instead of reading it, you decided to make negative comments. It is comments like this that is driving me away from wanting to be on the FHC.
If the wet equals mud that whatever your hauling with will make a mess or get stuck. Its understandable. I have a similar situation where I will be getting this years wood. Slick clay soil. If its just a dislike of working in the rain, Sorry, no sympathy from me.
Yeah...about making false statements........don't think you want to go there! Truth of the matter is, people change their mind if you don't live up to your word. If this was you giving away the wood and someone told you three months ago they would take it and then never showed up to get all of it, isn't it possible that you would think..."hmmph! Guess they changed their mind!" Could be exactly what happened, no?
