Lined up a few prospects over Sunday, but ended up using none of them today.
Went to check on a tree that was blocking a road Saturday , but it was gone already.
Found another group of tree limbs along the road, one blocking the sidewalk, and cut them up.
In the middle of that, a guy came out and asked if I could clear his back yard as well.

Feel sorry for him, but it is mostly small stuff which takes time for not much wood.
He's has no heat, as one phase of his power is out at the pole, and his furnace can't run.
I told him I'm still focused on cleaning the streets first.
While I was loading the trailer, a guy stopped and told me to go up to the top of the hill, he had a tree in his yard for me.

Fitting it all on one trailer load was a challenge, luckily I was less than a mile from home , and have my great trailer side/ramps.
I can roll any rounds as high as needed with the ramps.

Makes it easy to stack big stuff without lifting.

Ramps become the sides for travel

Got the first load home, and noticed the crane from a big removal job down the street, setting up in the Salvation Army parking lot, across the street.
Turns out the owner decided to remove the rest of the tree I cleared out of the road Friday night.
    20180312_131903.jpg
They didn't fool around, they hoisted the whole tree, brought it over the fence, limber it in the parking lot, and dropped the trunk wood back in the yard.
I got there just in time to get permission to take the trunk wood from the guy in charge.

Between the trunk wood and the larger limbs they left for me instead of chipping them, I got a full trailer load.
20180312_141735.jpg had to carry it all out through the small gate, but it was worth it

Really love my 490 the more I use it.

Headed out for one more scrounge, found a big cherry blocking part of the street
20180312_161043.jpg Got my worst stuck so far
    20180312_164048.jpg
And the log lifter couldn’t free it
    20180312_164143.jpg
Had to break out the husky 460 and cut the limb higher up
    20180312_180225.jpg
Worked out to about half a trailer load.

Just some of the rounds waiting to be split. As soon as the ground is bare again, I'll be back at the monster maple.

Way to keep at it. The snow should give you a few days rest from scrounging. A lot if it should still be there when it melts.

Well I did it now, went and pulled the trigger on a DHT 22, half beam splitter $829 and free shipping on fleabay.
I deal with so much big stuff , I want the option to split vertically,.
Once all this white gold melts, I get back to the CSS game, and probably with my new splitter.
Spent a lot of time driving for work this week, two trips to Burlington, VT and one to Lewiston, ME the day of the big snow storm. I get paid mileage, plus my hours, so most of the splitter is already paid for, planning to sell the predator as well.

You haven't won yet, You never know, Midwinter could come in strong at the end with her hoarding skills. You better just keep scrounging to keep that lead up. And yes, you can pick the color.:dancer:

Actually, I'm only heating the parsonage with wood, the church only has oil heat :(
I have considered installing a wood stove to help it warm up on those really cold days
