After packing the stove with big splits/rounds for the night Wood Duck they are used to pack in around them Had quite a few of them ready this year but with the winter we had i figure i better get twice as many ready for next year.
I hope not! We had record high temps this year... 50s in January! I hope it can be more "normal", no 50* one day and -20* a few days later.
Hope so woodlands Have been hearing stories about quite a few people running out and not being able to get in the woods for the standing dead stuff. And also heard of 2 houses out here somewhere? Having firewood stolen from their yards was just a matter of time when that crap would start..
That would be nice for the millions that got whacked this year with heating bills. The solar science guys seem to be reporting we're starting a stretch of weaker activity. I wonder if that could make it colder if they're right… hmmmm… I'm cuttin more wood… … much better safe than sorry.
I see people in our area getting green wood delivered to burn, they usually have wood left over for the next season. I've not heard of any stolen firewood in our area yet. We'll start to bring in some of the Cherry we planned on burning for the 2014-15 heating season this week, I have plenty of that stacked so it's not a big deal. I thought because I had 1.83 cord of shoulder season wood ready for the 2013-14 heating season that I would burn less Cherry, so I had .61 of a cord or two NY face cord less in the area we pulled the wood from, Mother Nature made my guess wrong.
