That seems really low for my area. I have 3 to 6 large trees I need to have professional dropped as they are too close to the house and power lines. I will be reaching out for quotes soon, but was prepared to hear a number a lot higher than $1800. Most likely I will only be asking them to drop the trees. I'll take care of limbing, bucking and splitting. Two pin oaks are 80 years old with no limbs until at least 20' up. Possibly they will want those as saw logs.
Just one tree felled today, I took all the pine to the area that I'll be splitting it and all the branches back to the outside fireplace for burning. I also opened up that trail that I had dropped a few smaller pines when I started the job.
I finally got rid of the small Maple ( first picture ) and took that back for the deer and the third picture is the trail I opened up by moving the pine rounds that had been down from when I started the job.
Every day the plow goes back on before I come in, we might get 6-8 inches of snow. How much snow are they calling for in your area?
Since we had that warm weather and lost most of our snow, the deer have been on the back hill eating what they can find, this is there second feeding of some maple buds.
Hearing that chainsaw running is like ringing a dinner bell for them! Last week, I noticed one side of the highway had some bare spots (melted snow) that deer were feeding on, also.
He's just trying to throw us off or pull the wool over our eyes like was recently mentioned. He keeps taking different shots of the same 4 or 5 pines while he's stock piling more cherry.
We'll be saving some for milling but most will go for shoulder season wood. The branches will get burned in the outdoor fireplace until things dry out. I won't be dropping any pine today (just came back from town) but plan on burning starting around one.
It seems like forever since I've cut any cherry so hopefully this spring/slash summer I can get into a good size cherry that's down. This snow we are getting in March will help the wild leeks/ramps out, can't wait for that smell.
It took just over an hour but I burned all the branches from the pine we took down yesterday. I don't like using anything like gas or kerosene to start it so I use for fire starters with some kindling. Either tonight or tomorrow will be our worst day for snow (12 inches) so I'm not sure when the clearing will start again.
