You guys know I overseeded Friday right? Well, we got some super wet and heavy snow. About 3” but it was so wet it just seeped right through the ground and now it’s a mud fest. Well, due to the timing, I’m trying to keep the basement clear of wood because I’m waiting for spring! So I got behind on wood. So what better time to try out the new YUTREX? Sure I’m gonna dig a garden in the newly overseeded yard but MY FHC PEEPS WANT THEIR PICS!! ha! So as I stated in my other thread I’m out of wood for 2018 after a bad miscalculation. So I’m taking the YUTREX down to one of my 2019 piles. Some MAPLE! I love maple. It’s slow to react to my stoves air adjustments but when I get it right it’s HOT! And burns a LONG TIME. For example, I filled the stove up with 6 20” splits last night at 11pm. When I got up for work it was pouring snow and it was 78 in the House so I got ready and left the stove to burn out. After working till 12 (yes it’s the south we shut the whole town after an inch or 2 ha!) I went to the dentist, came home and had lunch and at 3pm the house was 74. So I came down to hook up the trailer and found a full inch of red hot coals lying under some dead coals. After a swift back and forward raking, they were ready for some wood. So I loaded it full, set the draft as headed out to the woods and had some fun. It was a good day so far but I sure Am ready to start mowing. I also purchased a cant hook. I’ve been wanting one so I sprang for the cheapo laser model. I’m happy to say that it seems to be nice and sturdy and well built. We will see how long the welds hold up over time. So I have about a week or 10 days of wood. Maybe it will warm up soon. Have a great day guys!
I love your chainsaw holder...definitely gets the job done with no nonsense! I love it! (I also LOVE Maple too).
Ha! $19 at Lowe’s! And I had a coupon for 20% off! Already had the wood so it was a win-win lol.and you can sharpen safely in the woods! Here’s the cant hook.
Don't expect to wrestle any big logs with that... I have the same one and the handle has a lovely curve to it now....
Maybe it was not a wimpy tool, but rather the stout logger on the other end? That is what I would tell the wife anyway, if nothing else than just for points, but also to anyone who asks!!
Actually that is sort of a cant hook but made to lift logs for cutting. I had one and had trouble getting rid of the piece of junk that one was. I do have a cant hook and pickeroon that works much better. You can take that stand off and use it as a cant hook. Hope it is strong enough. Your trailer is identical to ours. We like it a lot.
That's exactly why I bought it. On the 10 acres that I cut, most trees are already down. I just need to lift them a bit to keep the chain out of the dirt.
CHeath, what a great job, you are doing great with the .. . So whats new the trailer? looks new, I like it. I do not have one but no ATV either BUT if Dennis says its a good one it must be! The chainsaw? looks newer, Personally, got a similar older (260 pro) love that thing not to heavy, easy to start and just keeps cutting! The ATV, new to you? real question here how it work for you make life easier? The cant hook? if all your doing with it is trying to keep your chain out of the dirt and have small to medium size trees it should serve you well til it breaks and then get a fiskars or log-ox. Nonetheless keep the pics coming and stay warm!! I had to break into a pallet of 18/19 wood also but we will survive. If it ever quits snowing been flurries every day this month BUT we don't shut down for a little snow..
I've had my Yutrax for about a 1.5 years and love it. Our property is very boney so I would often dump a trailer. So I went with the duellys when the craftsman finely soiled the bed. One from the club suggested, sorry I forget who, to lay some plywood down in the bed. That expanded metal will probably live longer.
That was probably me. Yes, the bed won't last too long unless you put some plywood or osb in the bottom. We just use osb and as long as we don't store the trailer outdoors it will last a long, long time.
Yes, they've changed names over the years. I think the original company sold out to someone else. Ashwatcher is someone else that has one (I think I'm right on this but could be wrong).
That was all me. My fault. I don’t know why called it yutrex. Yutrax is correct. I even went for the edit button yesterday but it was gone.
Yes I went with the 261. I just wanted it. It’s all metal and cuts like a dream. I did flood it last night but figured out really quick how to not do that again.
As for the ATV I’ve had it for a billion years lol. It’s a foot shift 01 Yamaha big bear. It was the “work horse” of that line up for that year. Personally it’s the best one I’ve ever had. It has a super low first gear and tho it’s only 2wd it does well. I bought a brand new grizzly 660 in 2003 and it just wasn’t as good. Didn’t like the automatic deal. This one seems more rugged. I’ll check out the log ox. I love anything from fiskars.
