No meltage yesterday and more snow last night. Only a couple inches though. Finally seeing some sun this morning. Just pulled back the curtains on the east side of the house to let some solar heat in.

Last night went and played cards with a couple of gals. We played 31, or knock, or whatever you want to call it. Last time we played it was for pennies. This time it was high stakes games at 25 cents! came home a winner - with an extra 75 cents in my pocket :makeitrain":D

Your braver than I am. I dont know what I dislike more about kitchen renovation-Price or the hassle of remodeling an integral room in the home............

Price really is the big hurdle for me though- I have priced out new cabinets several times and 10K seems to be the norm for the cabinets alone (material only)

The thought of stripping the existing doors and cabinets just to change the appearance was the deciding factor. Now we have the look SHE's after and I get to have a brew and watch:picard:
We are replacing the doors only and keeping the existing cabinets, big kitchen adds to the amount and the existing countertops needed to be GONE after 25+ yrs
    Happy wife, happy life

That is too much work, you'll need to do it all over again when she decides it is time to go elsewhere.

Started up the laptop to update the antivirus and it tells me that I need the latest version of Win10. So, it is updating that now, then I'll update the Norton's. I know a lot of people don't like Win, but it has run fine for me. We'll see after it gets done updating. Only run my Quicken off of it anyway (or as a backup in case the desktop goes down).

Heading to Massachusetts today and stopping at Home and Hearth in Hampton for a new flame guide. Mine is original and want to see if the guide might be part of the dirty burns I am getting. I have been seeing some odd/different soot patterns on the firebricks even when burning at higher temps over the past month or so. The areas right behind the burn pot are blacker than normal. I have never seen that this prevalent before this winter and wondering if the flame guide is just worn or slightly warped-

Hey!! Worn and warped-sounds like me :D

You may want to update Quicken, exit out of the program after the update, do a Win10 [ Restart ] on the laptop, and check again for updates, as needed ... for those Quicken updates B - from recent experience.

    * It's the .Net / DB updates for Quicken that apply - best to restart the OS / system to guarantee a problem-free update.
