good question.....would depend, I think, on the circuitboard in the unit...older ones would probably run on non pure, but possibly endanger the board with those square corner sine wave spikes

I wonder, at any point in time, how many manuals are printed? Might get spendy every time a satellite manufacturer changed their stuff....and, technically, it hadn't been tested.

Friend of mine runs an older XXV on an old small camping genny when power goes out.

Says it runs fine on the genny...but at times the stove now doesnt want to shut down, even when turned off. Sometimes it will sometimes just stays in maint burn. They dont care as the stove runs 24/7. Wonder what else might possibly be fubared on the board:picard: Eh, it heats the hosue

    older stove.......older board......
We had many folks shoot their boards a few years back when we got that big snowstorm and lost power for 8 days....."it worked until I put the generator on it......."

understand Lousy but what good is a recommended UPS that you can't even buy anymore.

point being, likely when the manual was written, it was valid....I just don't feel it realistic to change a manual every time an electronics manufacturer changed their line........but hey, that's me.....

Hmm, I saw them on sale not too long ago on Amaz*n (I am always recommending this model so send out links on a regular basis). Schneider Electric is where they come from and sometimes they have them on sale too. I see they have an updated model that I would think would work. Can't really blame Harman since this is a new move on APC's part.

Glad I could add to your choices :hair:

But it informed me of how the newer revision boards (that I dont have) work :)

I have a decent sine UPS, the stove shows it has power but doesn't run (both on battery backup or UPS plugged into the genny). Still glad I have it, small old neighborhood in the boonies and we get brown outs and power outages frequently. We plug the portable oil radiator into the genny and start a fire if needed.

what I have learned after a week and comparison to the francesca
    1- large hopper is awesome
2- allure does a better job of keeping the house at a constant temp
3- I didn't miss cleaning the heat exchange tubes this week on the francesca
4-Francesca burns hardwoods cleaner ( stock settings on allure except feed rate vs tweaked Francesca to burn hardwoods )
5- No clinkers to deal with although I do get the speed bump
6- touch control on the Allure is nicer and much easier to navigate vs the Francesca
