everyone has power but Mom I'm tasked with trying to keep her in her house. Also considering sending her to Phoenix for a week She's 86 and doesn't need this $#@%.
A bit brisk this morning, -23 C or -10 F. It wasn't supposed to go down that much overnight. Poplar in the stove same as always.
I haven't for too long Sean. If I go to the sugar bush this spring I'll try to get some pictures. Will also look as I may have some old pictures.
Looks like about 3" of snow this morning. Haven't yet got out to shove it around. May not even mess with it. More coming tomorrow I guess. Just put a couple splits in the stove. One was really nice as it had a knot hole and was full of ants. Somehow I just seem to get pleasure out of putting them in the fire!
Sean, right now I can't seem to find old pictures except these 2. The first is an old friend that we lost last year. Him and his father made syrup longer than I can remember. The second is just the first set of troughs where you get the sap really boiling. You can see all the foam on the right side and on the left it is where the sap enters the evaporator.
Well, back to Winter here, 24F 18 windchill & blowing snow. I really was enjoying the 40's & 50's with the sunshine. Oak & Ash in the firebox, 72 IAT.
Okay...getting a little tired of winter now. Forecast is never accurate and the weather won't get normal. -18 c or 0 f
It is cold this morning. In the 20's so that isn't bad but the wind will really bite you. It is also snowing now but we don't expect much. The "Thumb" of MI is getting hit pretty hard with snow. Here, we have some beech and ash in the stove. We let the stove go out in the night so it took some time to get things warmed up on here today. But last night it was even too hot for me so we did not put any wood in the stove before hitting the sack.
Mid 30s tonight with 2 year oak, 2 year honey locust with some 5-6 year live oak on deck. That old live oak is still solid as a rock and burns like nothing else. I would be scared to put it in an open fireplace.
Got a little snow over night. 28 now with... something in the boiler. Cherry I think? And some pine. -edit- tried to insert these pictures as thumbnails, but they're huge when I look at the post. Sorry to all on a slow connection!
