The wife and I are building a little getaway cabin out at the other farm. Had the first ceremonial fire in the woodstove yesterday.

So, I presume those shingled osb sheets made it on top of the walls?

I'd rather have a roof, with no walls;) just posts to hold up the roof;)

I was thinking the same thing. The walls have little good without a roof. Sure your piles can't fall over but if there so packed in 5 rows deep in those walls without a roof the center of that pile can stay wet for a long time.

But I have a feeling that temporary roof was up on top of the wood.

If they call you on it get some of the bark off the rounds and lay it on top like shakes from bottom to top.

The sheets set on top of the wood stack. Cant put up a roof without getting a building permit and inspections. The way I built it it is a wood storage area not a shed. No plans or permits required.

It's dumping snow now. It's going to be a messy AM commute tomorrow.

Supposed to get 18" of heavy snow tomorrow night. Should be fun with the ground thawed.

I'm trying to get an early start so I can get caught up on work from being in meetings all day yesterday and my server is down. How am I supposed to slip out and scrounge firewood later today? :headbang:

Ugh, all this snow means the supply at the dump dries up. Maurice, the 86 year old dump scrounger, told me yesterday that the wood arriving is from cemetery storm cleanups. It'll all get buried, ha ha!
I think I'll throw a tarp over the pile I'm working on splitting.

Ummmm why don't you go right to the source today and check out the cemeteries?

    Brilliant!
There is a big cemetary in Malden near my son's house that has it's own wood dump. I passed it last Sunday and it was closed for cleanup. I've never gotten anything there, but now might be better.

Just tell work you have a thing. You stayed late last night anyway, at the Capitol Grill? That should count as something.

Yeah, I didn't get home until almost ten last night, so that's a 15 hour day.

Caffeine! Worked late last night. Slept in a bit. It’s time for me to bring more wood inside. Hope all you hoarders have a fun day.

Just to add to the interesting, our Audit dates are the last week of May. Guess who has put in their notice and last day is next Wednesday?

If anyone guessed bogieb - you do not get a gold star, you do not get extra recess time. The new Quality Manager got a better offer and is leaving already :hair:

Continuing to be dry and just above freezing here. It is nice to start to have daylight on our walks. After the time change, we will be back in the dark again.

My co-worker is still sick so work is interesting trying to do two jobs. Report cards next week make it even more interesting. Needless to say, I am hoping her recovery is quick. 1 1/2 weeks to go and Spring break will be happening. Nice to have a week off.

As expected, the snow turned out to be almost nothing here. Barely enough to cover the ground. Chilly out there but not extremely cold.
