Loaded the stove at 11:30 with 9 Spruce splits:eek:, got it up to about 600, then killed the air.
Stove is now (over an hour later) about 525 and cruising with 2ndaries up top.
I thought for sure I'd be flinging Spruce splits out the door into the snow by now:rofl: :hair:, but nope.
Don't mind me....a lot of these posts are not only informational for those interested, but also archival so I can come back next year to compare.
It's the only way I'll do a journal of sorts.

Think you'll burn more wood learning how to burn in the 30 but when you're up to speed you will burn around 1/3rd less next year and realize the same heat plus burn more cleanly..

    Yep, already burning cleaner.
Now, to figure out the rest of it.

Well, I was right. The sorta included blower won't work.
It got here this afternoon (wow, that was quick).

I'd need to pull the stove out a little more than 2.5".

That sucks. I was hoping you could start messing with it now before next winter so you can figure out what works for you. Can you return it and upgrade to the flatter, more adjustable, blower?

I would imagine you, like me, do not need a lot from the blower. The more adjustable one could probably run at a lower speed, which would mean it would be quieter.

Maybe I'll put it up for sale to offset the cost of the other one.
    I thought the same.
I like the idea of the blower running at a fairly slow pace.

I hope to do the same with the kitchen 30. I just need the heat to be pushed out of the fireplace. The side heat shield you mentioned have me intrigued. I need someone to let me know how those work and if they would be beneficial at all.

I wonder if I could find a piece of pipe (elbow) with flanges that would work. Exhaust pipe, maybe.

On another note, I believe I screwed up re: the "broken brick".
Now that I've used the stove some, the gasket has compressed a teensy bit and the door handle seems to be bottoming out before tightly closing the door.
It's closed, but could go a little tighter. Might be why the hinge side allows paper to slide out a bit too easily.
I took a gander inside (with a nice fire going so I could see very clearly), and although I can't exactly see it, it does look like the inside part of the handle is now hitting the wider brick I put in.
It's coming out as soon as I can get the stove cooled off, which may not be until tomorrow some time.
    Somebody smack me.

Both of the blowers are sold at HD. I took my ac16, which came in the crate with the stove back to HD and they credited the return toward the price of the ac30 blower.

Couldn't stand the idea that the brick might be wrong and the door might not be closing completely, so me being me.......I got the oven mitts out, and changed the darn things.
I switched out the one from the factory before I did any burns.
Maybe this will change my burn times...maybe not. At least now, I'll know.
    Stay tuned.

ETA: For those who don't know, oven mitts emit a nasty smell when in close proximity to the heat generated from even a small wood stove fire.
Oh, and they smoke too. That was interesting with my hand inside.
    FYI

Sounds like you need some stove gloves or welders gloves!

Yep, but all I can find are leather with some kind of fabric lining. Wouldn't seem to keep the heat out. What if I needed to grab a burning split or something?:)
Son gave me a gift card for my birthday, but I used almost all of it on a couple things for the Jeep, and an ash rake.
I almost bought some gloves too, but backed out.
There's a welding shop next door to the HVAC/plumbing supply place we get a ton of stuff from that should have gloves. I just haven't been over there recently.
