View attachment 158824 I didnt want to make a thread on these photos so I thought I would throw these in here. One of my stacks from a few days ago. I should dig it out so I can burn it this winter. I was shovelling the snow off a stack and shot this picture today. It captures the ice line from a freezing rain event we had awhile back. My daughter and I loaded the garage for another two weeks of burning. Normally I have some doug fir in here but this time its lodgepole pine and larch.
Not really sure why this one didnt make in the mix in my photos above. This is what was left this afternoon after loading my garage. I should have knocked it down before going under there but it stayed in place. I looked at it a little while ago and it hasnt moved. The wood that is left in this section is a double row of larch.
To much snow , bare ground here , for now. Hit 4o again today, temp is dropping , 28°F-2°C now , Low tonight 18 Burned silver maple today, full load of ash for overnight tonight
I agree. We tend to get lots of the white crud in March so we arent done for awhile here. I was shoveling the driveway this afternoon and the piles along my driveway are reaching 5-6 feet. Its annoying throwing it up and over this, snow blower is broken at the moment. Its -8c/17f. Lodgepole pine coals in the stove awaiting some larch. Like you said spring is coming!
20F according to our thermometer out back. Just loaded the boiler about half way with Pine. Then it will be Maple for daytime while at work.
Wow Sean. Those pictures remind me of old times. Where we live now we do not get that much snow, and we like that. Years ago I loved all the snow and cold. Not so much any more.
Weather guessers are still guessing. Maybe 3" for us. Looking at the storm on radar it is a big one that covers a huge area. That sometimes means many will get but only a small area will get a big amount. It also depends on how fast the storm moves and it appears to be moving slow right now.
Sitting at -10 C feels -18 C, or 14 F feels 0 F. Looking like a winter wonderland with the snow fall. Poplar in the stove.
Forgot to mention the snowfall amounts. While not crazy like some of you fellas get down there, we got about a foot overnight here. Some places about 30 minutes away got twice that. Schools are open but pretty much all buses cancelled everywhere. My poor Springer doesn't know where to go do her business, as all her yard trails are snowed in! Travel not advised and some roads closed.
Forecast is for 2-5 inches with it starting later this afternoon, maybe by 4. Glad they are not talking about rain. Ground is still frozen so water has been running off during the melt we had the past couple of weeks.
Lots of wind today with a few snow showers. Hope the weather guessers are wrong. We don't need a lot of snow now.
Ha! The weather guessers have changed the forecast again. Now we're down to less than 1/2" tonight and less than an inch tomorrow. Methinks I'm much closer to taking that snow blade off and it just may happen this week. For sure we've had a cold wind today. It was sunny but is not cloudy.
We are in a snow belt here where we get hit with the pacific systems regularly but also remain quite cold for the region, not quite as cold as Banff though. It gets tiring to deal with all the snow but I guess I can move if I dont like it.
