    Complaint alert. Keep scrolling if you don't want to listen to me b!+@h and moan but I need to vent.

    Was on a conference call until 1:30AM last night working on an issue. Missed game night with the wife and kids.

    Worked locally in a building this AM doing some testing. Phone rings...boss is calling. Figured he wanted an update on how this AM was going. Nope...He wasn't.

    Sorry to bother you, but can you go to TX.

    When?

    Right now.

    Like now now?

    Yeah, can you catch a flight today?

    Why?

    Somebody else f'd up and I need you to go make sure it gets fixed.

    Uh, I guess.

    Wife is super not happy...was holding back tears when I left. Probably because I've worked 3 of the past 4 weekends out of town this month.

    Spent 4 hours on another conference call getting briefed and making plans for tonight and tomorrow.

    Plane takes off in 10. No idea when I'm coming back home, but hoping for Tuesday.

    At least 2 more major weekends of work out of town in the next 3 weeks.

    These two months might be what pushes me into a new career. Been thinking on it for a while now.

    Complaining over. Time to put on my big boy pants and get things done.

    Might definitely be time to rethink careers. Wife and kids of utmost importance but we know you’re aware of that. Travel safe!

    Definitely sounds like it's time to polish up the resume. Work is important, but your kids knowing what you look like is importanter. Happy wife, happy life too...and she doesn't sound happy.

    Tell your wife what you are thinking and feeling, and to hang in there. It will all work out. Who knows. Maybe you will be able to find something close to what you do now without so much travel. Maybe your employer will allow you to travel less if you request that? Tell me what you do again Lukem.

    I work in supply chain designing, testing, installing, and supporting automation tech for a network of 30 buildings across the country. I do mostly software but some conveyor and robotics.

    I've been doing a lot more supporting than designing lately....i.e. more fixing and less fun stuff that doesn't involve airplanes.
